See the egg tooth? Hatch is progressing nicely! I love this shift change: HD isn't excited about
leaving his warm bed for the cold damp weather. Note HM's plushy pantaloons - it looks like
she could incubate five or six eaglets beneath her downy coverlet!
We are over the moon about hatchling DH1! DH1 shook its shellmet off at 4:10
this morning and HD arrived for his first shift at around 7:05 AM. I love the care
that he takes getting into the nestbowl for his first-ever brooding shift. It's hard
to believe that the tiny, helpless bit of fluff nestled under his feathers will grow up
to become a ruler of the skies! DH1 is HD and HM's first hatchling and the 40th(!)
eaglet hatched on this territory.
