seeing the movie tomorrow will see how badly they messed ya town up:)

haven't seen the movie yet, but read the book. :)

hubby went to the midnight showing last night, said it followed the book very very well :thumb:

Saw the film last night at a midnight showing - very good. Extremely faithful, but they tweaked the ending, IMO improving upon it from the GN.

that's what i would have expected popcorn
;)

this whole thing is a spoiler tag. that's the point of the thread.

the comedian is real father of the silk spectre ii. ooops did i say that out loud?

Is that the Jets or the Giants fans? The Mets or the Yankees fans? Downtown or Uptown? The Jets or the Sharks?

People need to know.

not so fast! i want people to see this movie, so won't spoil it for you.

Yes, I thought changing the "villian" at the end (i.e. the thing that destroys the cities) made a lot more sense than the book did. The film did a very good job of building the book into reality, and if they had carried out the ending of the book it would have had all the believability and emotional impact of the Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man in "Ghostbusters".

Oh Nooooz....my son lives there. I better check on him.

next time specify what the spoiler is about....god damn it

Best villian evah.

Saw the movie today in IMAX (OK, baby IMAX).

Never read the book so I went into it blind.

One of the better movies I've ever seen.

Very Kubrickesque in the sense that there was not a single wasted moment of the nearly 3 hours of screen time. One has the impression that every single item in view or that you hear was crafted with the utmost precision, the same way Kubrick did.

The cinematography was outstanding, the use of music brilliant.

I'd heard a interview with a U of Minn Physicist who consulted on the movie and he said something to the effect that the filmmakers wanted to understand something well enough to know what was around the corner even if the film doesn't actually turn that corner.

They certainly accomplished that goal because you do get the impression of a complete whole, beyond the specific things that you focus on while watching the movie.

I would be certain that one could re-watch this movie many many times and find some new tiny piece of that larger world, around the corner, at every viewing.

I know nothing about this movie. Never read the comics, so have no clue what the story is. All I've seen/heard is from the commercials on TV.

So I was of the impression that it was kind of a scary movie based on some old comic book superheroes.

My daughter and her boyfriend went to see it. I asked her how it was, and she said they left. I figured it was too gory for her, and she said no, it was basically a porno film.

She said they showed "everything", that there was a rape scene that was pretty graphic, and so they left.

So tell me - Is it really like that? And if so, how'd it get by with an R rating?!

I feel like such an old fuddy-duddy... :sulk:
