ULTIMATE 1980s Thread

Edit: Does anyone remember the James Montgomery Band? I went to pick up one of my drunk brothers at U-Lowell (now UMass Lowell) near the end of one of their concerts, and they sounded like a fun band. I think maybe they were eventually outshined in their department by J. Geils.
he is still playing local, I believe he is in cahoots with Ernie Boch and his band but I could be wrong.

and he is a Mad Fisherman star

Yes, he's still performing. In fact, according to his website, he'll be playing in Webster tomorrow and looks like he does occasional shows around the northeast.

But I couldn't find any association with Ernie Boch.

I know he has played Ernie's parties, I know people who have gone and watched KEZ walk into the indoor pool, so that may be why I thought of the association.

Thirty-five years is a long time for any two people to stay in step with each other, but that’s what the folk-rock duo Aztec Two Step has done.

A chance meeting at a Boston open mic in 1971 led to one of the longest running and inventive musical collaborations. Since that day the two, Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman, have been holding audiences spellbound for decades with their tightly interwoven harmonies, musicianship and sophisticated song-writing.

Aztec Two Step performs at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan.17, at the First Encounter Coffeehouse, 220 Samoset Rd., Eastham.

yeah that would be a great take, too bad they timed it out wrong forgetting many music fans are sports fans too.

I was still a kid throughout all of the 80's so when I look back, it's mostly through the lens of a child, into adolescence. Without further adieu, and in no particular order:

The Smurfs

That asswipe from the Encyclopedia Britannica commercials:

And, of course, the movie that scared every 80's kid to death for no less than 3 years:

So many video games to mention but when I reflect back, I recall that the pizza shop near my house had a table you could sit at, eat pizza, and play Pacman at:

There was also a lot of great music from the 80's (many of which has been covered in this thread) but there was also a lot of oddball stuff as well:

(Some of it worked, some of it didn't)

And the movies - so many great comedies that to try and list them all would be an unintended insult to those I forgot.
