Barely 80's, but close enough

I worked at Musicland in the local mall when they were the largest national music chain in the U.S. when this song was released as a single. We sold so many of the damn things that we all had the sku # memorized when ringing them up (this was before we had scanners for the UPC codes). It was so damn popular that they whipped up an entire album for Tone Loc in about a month after the single dropped and hurriedly released it. Sold a sh!t-pot of those too.

I had the best job a kid my age could've had in the 80's, right when CDs were starting to take off and VHS was huge. I worked for that company right up until the Internet became a thing in the mid-90's, saw the writing on the wall and got out while the getting was good. Great job at the time, though. Had a lot of fun there. I still carry all of that music and movie trivia from those days up in my noggin to this day.

Slayer's Reign In Blood defined my 80's

The 80's saw the birth of alternative rock. 80's alternative rock > that shit they're trying to pass off today.

I remember a lot of the stuff in this thread. 80's was some good times.

Still the greatest vampire movie ever.

I was always a hard rock fan but these guys kicked it up a couple of hundred notches. Kill'em All and Master of Puppets are still 2 of their best albums IMO. This in turn turned me on to other bands like Megadeth, Anthrax, Loudness, and other metal bands. Now I listen to mostly country..........lol.

An alternative renaissance, for sure. For Alt fans, those were the Elvis/Beatles days, really heady times. Man I listened to a ton of music back then. I remember one particular trip where I purchased the following cassettes:

Echo and The Bunnymen: Songs to Learn and Sing
The Cure: Standing on a Beach
The Cure: The Head on the Door
The Smithereens: Especially For You
The Dead Milkmen: Big Lizard in my Back Yard

I still listen the crap out of all of these except for Big Lizard (I have to be in a pretty special mood to listen to that). Of course, they are all on my iPod now.

So many bands. I bet I spent half my paycheck each week on music.

Some of my favorite nights is going to the bar with my friends and pumping $20 into the jukebox and playing 80's music all night. It seems like every time we come up with at least one or two songs that we had completely forgotten about.

Great stuff. In '84 I saw the Cure with the Psychedelic Furs at the Warner Theater in DC. So many great bands from this era.
