According to BR this is "far and away their Plan A".
Don't have a link, it just came up as an alert on my phone.

Yeah that was put up for discussion yesterday and got no play. The post was buried quickly so it's understandable you didn't read it.
I also keep going back and forth between a QB and a defensive player in the first round. My head tells me we don't go QB in the first round. Maybe it's because we haven't had to think about that position in 20 years, I honestly don't know. But if we decide to go defense and if he is available...

I mean, it depends...it could be fucking awesome. If JimmyG could be immortal, DUH?!?!
Babes. Victories, trophies, SBWins, HOF/S, FUCK/YEAH!!!!
Well, old porn stars anyway.
I hope they get a good back-up, too, because no way is Jimmy G. playing 17 games.
I think it's a significant gamble. This isn't Newton, Winston, Mariota etc who would come cheap. Jimmy will have a huge price tag on dollars and trades. And he is injury prone, liable to break at any time.
$25M this year and $25.6M next year. ROFL
I think the ship has sailed on Jimmy G being the starter here. I can't see BB giving up significant draft capital for him when there are holes all over the roster that need to be filled. Plus he's injury prone.
I think you guys covered my feelings on this pretty well. The only thing I'll add is that JimmyG's stock around the league has plummeted significantly the last 2 years due to all the things you mentioned above. The Pats know this so if they get him, somehow it will be on the cheap. His SB appearance has already been discounted for all kinds of reasons, not the least of which is that SF roster was an absolute powerhouse and JG may have been the weakest link on offense.
Honestly, I'd much rather use the capital it would take to get JG to move up and draft a QB. Then sign a cheaper but competent FA veteran to help bring along Stidham and the draftee.
One thing to remember as we get closer to FA and the draft -
LYING SEASON IS IN FULL SWING.
Where do we think that Plan A report came from? I mean, the Pats are secretive so who would know? Exactly, probably leaked by the Pats to Bedard.
Why? To throw off other teams competing against us for a QB in draft or in FA.
There's plenty of time for those teams to get comfortable in thinking the Pats aren't competitors for a QB...& with the idea that they won't have to move up to get their guy ahead of us. The seed is planted.
Then suddenly BB pulls off his real plan A and jumps up to 8 to swipe the QB they wanted later. (yeah, tin foil hat is on)
But remember, Operation Fortitude worked pretty damn well and it, too, was only a ruse.
