This might be an interesting thread. Where have you been for work, vacation, etc.

Mine is going to be small as I have never flown so I drive everywhere. Also because my family grew up with little money to travel.

As a kid we went to Florida a few times as my grandparents had a trailer for winter in Lakeland.

As an adult I never really had the money to travel until I got married. I did go to New Orleans (3x), Nashville, Tuscaloosa(2x) for mission trips.

We have been to Missouri, Florida (Pensacola, Daytona and Tampa), Pennsylvania (Elysburg), West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee since I got married.

We hope to take a delayed five year anniversary (five years is next years married but baby will be due within a month so that is out). I’m wanting to go to Hawaii or California for that trip in 2020. Some other places we want to vacation to is the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Sarah has family there near red rocks. Texas might be fun to go to as well.

The only Non-North American places I have been to are:

Costa Rica for vacation in 2011

And I won a trip to The Caymen Islands in 2007.

Both were beautiful places that I really enjoyed and would love to go back to someday.

I won’t bore you with the U.S. states I’ve been in and trips to Canada. It’s not that interesting.

Maine, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Arizona, Mexico, Canada, Indiana, West Virginia

In the US, places where I've actually spent at least 1 night:

MA, NH, VT, ME, CT, RI, NY, PA, VA, MD, DC, NC, SC, GA, FL, OH, WI, IL, LA, SD, MT, AZ, PR

Non-US: Canada, Finland, Mexico, Jamaica, Aruba, Curacao, St.Thomas, St.Maarten, St.Kitts, Grand Cayman, Bermuda, Barbados, Martinique, Bahamas, Costa Rica, Belize, Haiti

Maine, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Arizona, Mexico, Canada, Indiana, West Virginia

No Connecticut? Just come to New Haven for the pizza. Maybe a casino visit.

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana(home), Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

I've only been outside the US once. Honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. So beautiful there and so much fun.

I have accidentally crossed into Canada and Mexico. The Mexican border was much more upset about it, but ultimately let me make my u-turn and go back into Texas. I was very lost thanks to old school GPS that was shit. Missed the last turn I could make before I was stuck heading right at the border checkpoint. No u-turn option before, so I just had to pull up and ask for forgiveness. Not fun. Not at all.

Only to drive through. May change the next summer though if Jr and I head up to Maine. My brother lives in Windsor Locks, may stop off.

Been all over the Continental US, to Sicily, Tuscany, Buenos Aires, and Istanbul. Istanbul was the most amazing place- pre Erdogan- religious Muslims, supermodels, guys in Slayer shirts, ancient and modern, calls to prayer 5 times a day, and people pounding beer and raki. Enormous city, too- 20 million +

Apart from the obvious:

Landed in Detroit and flew out of Minneapolis, but didn't leave either airport. We travelled through Utah on the California Zephyr, but didn't get off there.

We watched Rutgers in New Jersey, so I think that counts.

Spent at least one night in Colorado - Boulder, Denver, Estes Park and Granby. California - Truckee and San Francisco
Nevada - Las Vegas. Charlotte, North Carolina, and New York City.

In Europe, I have spent at least one night in:

- the Republic of Ireland, France, The Netherlands, Germany (both sides, West before 1990 and East after reunification), Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, Portugal, Greece,Turkey and Malta.

I've also been to Morocco.

We're planning to see my sister in Bolivia next September.

I was toting my pack along the long dusty Winnemucca road
When along came a semi with a high canvas covered load
If your goin' to Winnemucca, Mack with me you can ride
And so I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand
And I said, "Listen! I've traveled every road in this here land!"

Many places in the US, Caribbean, and Europe. Two places that I will never forget are Japan and Nepal (pre-earthquake). The Himalayas make the Rockies look like little hills......it's like your on another planet.

Don't want to derail this at all, but my dream trip is to trek up Mt. Kilimanjaro and go on a safari in Tanzania.

Shit, I been to a lot of places.

Rather than list them I'll tell a quick story.

I'm in California a couple of weeks ago and was in a town called Watsonville a bit north of the Monterey peninsula and Big Sur.

So, I'm talking to this nice hostess at a Mexican restaurant one night and she guessed that I'm from Boston and was highly amused by the accent. She mentions that it's a "cold spell" there and it was like 59 degrees out. Turns out that it's typically between 60 and 70 all year long, which boggled my mind. I never heard of a place like that. Temperate, yes, but a 10 degree difference?

She asks what it's like in Massachusetts and I say "Oh, it's awesome. The temperature ranges from zero to 100". She thought I was kidding, but it really made me wonder exactly why most of us live here when there are places where it's nice almost every day.

Easy access to Foxboro was about the only reason I could come up with.
