JJ Abrams says Rey's parents "were not in the force awakens". HHhhhmmmmm.... Luke and Leai were both in the movie so if they are ruled out, who wasn't in force awakens that could be her parents. Theories of Obi Wan being her father were floated but there age thing doesn't seem to fit (of course they may have Force Viagra).

Then he back tracked on that statement. I think he's trying to keep it a surprise to the end of 8th film. Must of the rumors I heard was Luke daughter or obi won grand daughter .

I think being Luke's daughter is too obvious and kinda lame. The idea that there's a tie back to the emperor is interesting!
Not surprised he'd back track as that may have pissed off people making number 8

It's not like Luke was actually in the movie. That cameo was basically the beginning of VIII.

I think it turns out that Rey is the daughter of a Sith.
Lots of "good guys" turning to the Dark Side in Star Wars. Maybe they use her as an example of someone pre-destined to be bad, but choosing the "good" side. Like Darth Vader, but not on his death bed.

I still go with the daughter of Hans and Leia for reasons I stated earlier, but your comment does raise some interesting ideas.
Specifically Luke or Leia going to the dark side.
Luke would be too obvious, repeating his father's fall, but hey, JJ Abrams didn't seem to have a problem "remaking" A New Hope.
Leia raises a more interesting possibility.
Strong emotions are the path to the dark side and it wouldn't be that hard to have her get pissed off over the death of Hans.
Wanting revenge, she goes bad ass and slips to the dark side.
Now you have a multifaceted conflict.
Luke vs his sister and nephew.
Rey vs her mother and brother.
If done right that could be epic.

The only problem with that. Why would Leia & han. Not immediately recognize her. In the clip they were leaving . While she was being held back. If your right that would be a phenomenal twist.
I'm still hoping Rey had a secret lifestyle. We find out later she was a pornstar on her home planet. She used Jedi Mind Tricks to satisfy all her bed partners.

If you assume that they left her on the planet to protect her from the bad guys, then it would make sense for them to "forget" her so they couldn't lead anyone to her. Intentional or not.
Can the Jedi erase memories?

Maybe your on to something . Ren seemed have a connection to her. She was able to disrupt his read on her . Which still leads me to believe there family.
