The 2021 Draft- We Need This One

Perhaps chevss454 could do that if he wants. His post on this thread have been very informative and have screwed with my head.

So, there really is a snapface?

Snapchat? I think that's what kids these days use. I don't use it because I'm over 30.

I post a Patriots mock every year and can never find them easily after time has passed to review them, so I'm tossing it in here.

Instead of trying to match up nine guys with the nine slots we have, I'll break it down a bit and suggest 20 guys that I think might be more realistic future Pats than Big Sky Fly hacking into the PFF mock mainframe and drafting every talented player in the 2021 draft by making 40 trades. "The world still needs ditch-diggers" is what my Old Man used to say or "you can't always get what you want" as Jagger did.

The first round is completely unpredictable, so I'll do it this way: If we get a QB, then I'd be happiest with Mac Jones, next is Trey Lance followed by Justin Fields. Any one of them landing in Foxboro and I'd be completely cranked.

If we don't get a QB then I'll predict a trade down to, say, the mid-20s, which should get us another 2nd (at least) and think we'll be looking at either LB Zaven Collins, DT Christian Barmore or S Trevon Moehrig as our first-rounder. Yeah, don't be surprised if Bill is tired of us bitching about all the shitty Safeties he's drafted in the 2nd and 3rd and decides to show us how much he cares by taking one in the 1st. FWIW, nobody out there is confusing Moehrig with Jordan Richards. He should be quite good.

Then moving on to the 2nd I'd be looking for a couple of guys such as Slot/gadget/Kr Rondale Moore or even the possibility that Bill likes QB Davis Mills to develop. Another position that might make sense is to try and find an Adam Butler replacement for the IDL and Iowa's Daviyon Nixon could be an upgrade over the former free-agent. As a dark horse I'd love to get OL Trey Smith.

I'll now lump a few guys together that I think might interest Bill and his guys from the 3rd through 5th where we have 4 picks to spend at present. I'll speculate that RB Michael Carter,IOL Kendrick Green, WR Simi Fehoko, WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, LB Ernest Jones, OT Walker Little, OL Royce Newman or DB Camryn Bynum could be potential Patriots.

With the last few picks representing slappy time I'd like to see us land WR Cade Johnson LB/ST Grant Stuard, RBs Ben Mason and Rhamondre Stevenson or WR Tyler Vaughns

I'm not familiar with the money situation vis-a-vis James G (I could look it up but money talk bores me), but based on the outlandish (read: the price of doing business for any QB with a pulse) contract he signed with SF I don't know if there is enough spare change left hidden in Belichick's couch to pay him. He might actually be better off swallowing his pride and biding his time in SF. He could always take some zoom classes with Alex Guerrero and get his pliability on.

Plus, Dale Arnold is a desperate, miserable man trying to hang on as a fading talk-show host. Should we trust that he actually has a source? He wears sweater vests and plugs weight-loss systems. We aren't talking about Adam Schefter here. All I know about Arnold (I have a source) is that IF he got lucky and the Pats did sign Jimmy then he would crow about it to anybody that would listen, which is not a big number of people.

I'm not aware of Dale Arnold. Is he Tom's brother? :coffee:

I do think now it's going to be Jimmy. There appears to be no market for him so maybe we get him for our 2 or a 3 with a contingency that it could become a 2 if he starts a certain number of games. I would also assume Jimmy will restructure as he wants to continue to be a starter and we give him the best op for that.

If BB does this, sCam could still be used in various situations ala Taysom Hill/hybrid QB...like I suggested earlier on this offseason. It might be an OK senario. It might actually benefit both QB's too.

I'm rarely online after 6 PM. Whoever is online could do it.

I hope this is just another of those fruitless rumors we've seen all week. If not, pretty disappointing.

Wow.
Dale Arnold is picking the low fruit again, I see.

When was the last time Dale Arnold was relevant? It's been years and years. He has no reliable sources anymore and he never had reliable NFL sources.

Bill loves the guy and he will most likely come cheap. That is pretty much right up Bill's alley. I would rather the draft pick too but if given the choice, I think Bill takes the known commodity at a cheap price. It has always been MO.

JG's trade value has fallen dramatically since 9er's trade to 3 and just fell to rock bottom with Shanahan's blunder-filled presser.
Maybe for a 5th and a restructured cheap contract full of incentives.
Otherwise, with a little patience BB can get JG for nothing since the 9ers will eventually cut him and save a lot of cash and cap space.

Dale Arnold was out out to pasture by ‘EEI a few weeks ago. He’s been retired.

A lot of chatter out there. Now the tweets are saying the Niners won't be letting JG go unless if for a stupendous offer. That's probably BS as Shanahan stupidly let the cat out of the bag on this. I think the Niners are desperately trying to row back to ensure they get a great offer for JG.

They are not getting anything much for him on his contract. The only team that could maybe do something is the Bears. I don't know how high they are in on him but he is from there.
