The NFL Draft, 2022

I'll look at some film.

Everyone is taking "available in the 3rd" as Gospel.
I know, right? Well the mock drafts all say yadda yadda so therefore this guy can only be that good. As if the people making the mocks are better than teams' scouting depts.

There are steals and reaches in every draft, most of which couldn't be determined beforehand. We say the draft is a crap shoot, then why aren't more picks the way to increase the odds?

Glad I didn't stay up! Heard the news this morning and I laughed. Yep, Bill picked a guard in the 1st round. 😊🕵️😊

Amazing number of trades in the first, in a year when there weren't supposed to be any.
This. I think is has to do with how weird the year is that picks from 15 through the end of round three are in a genral grouping. Each team is evaluating players based on their own experience and unique visionfor their team. Makes for chaos and confusion, and is obviously hard on those who place a lot of faith on media mock drafts.

Slept on it and.... still not happy that is how it played out. Of course I hope the player works out well and in hindsight it was a "brillant" move, but I would have preferred they got one of the top rated defensive players that all got picked off between where we were and where we traded down to.
of course, if extra good players picked today and tomorrow then I'll amend my comments to take in the extra pics netted and who they were used on.
we'll see...

I don't like the pick. But Mcvay as a HC in the NFL should keep his mouth shut about another teams pick. Very unprofessional but maybe he can't get over BB making him look like a little boy in the SB.

McVay has been to 2 of the last 4 Superbowls. Current Superbowl champ. He's also repeatedly shown respect and reverance for Belichick. This was an honest reaction caught on camera and an indication of how far a reach the pick was.

Even if Strange is good, you don't go guard that early. You go after a premium expensive position of need like DB or LB. Hated the Logan Mankins pick for the same reason. Also whenever they burn a 1st for a RB.

I agree. It's much easier to make good decisions if you know what the relative outcomes will be.

I don't care if it was an honest reaction. Someone in his position should know that the cameras are always on in a public place. What he says privately to someone is different. I'm sure that BB is pissed about that.

Well Rams couldn't have had him any earlier than 104, they don't have any picks until then.

Guard was probably the thinnest position on the Roster, also maybe the Pats didn't like any of the LBs or DBs that were available at that spot and felt they could get better value on day 2? we will likely never know

Pretty sure he had started drinking, based on that footage.

Hearing that McVay might also have partaken in a little too much booze last night

After hearing all of this talk about McVay I decided that instead of immediately being butthurt I should watch the actual video first. Yeah, not butthurt whatsoever. To me at least it wasn't him laughing at the Patriots pick at all. I just thought it was one of those laughing in disbelief things. Maybe even laughing at themselves for projecting him so low. 🤷‍♂️

BB should focus more on making sure Strange is the next coming of Mankins (even then a 1st rounder on a guard is not worth it), and focus on fixing the defense that is still terrible at run defense and just lost JC Jackson, Hightower, Van Noy.

This is the only defensible argument. Even then it's terrible. If Strange was the only starter level guard on their entire board left, this urgent need was self-created because Mason and Karras left. And they left because of bad contracts wasting 10M+ each on mediocre players who wrecked the cap like Agholor, Jonnu, Godchaux, and Wynn.

maybe no one wanted the pick? pretty sure pats draft bingo always has a space on the card for "drafting some dude few have heard of who is from a small school"...😄
I doubt it, but, if they were stuck, they could have drafted numerous players instead that were graded much higher. But yeah, BB has his own grading system. Jordan Richards was a masterful choice back in the day...

Except for Wynn, I would argue that it is too early to call the rest of those guys mediocre and wrecking the cap.
