Looking At The Patriots 2022

He's a highlights monster, and tremendous against the runs and short zones. I want to see more consistency and development in range-y and denial pass coverage before I anoint him as a superstar, but I like the development I've seen. Last year at this time I was not nearly as high on him as everyone else, but he showed a ton in 2021. I have no reason not to expect continued stark player development.

Coverage isn't his thing...he's an in the box safety similar to Chung. There may be times he is forced to cover just as Chung was at times. Phillips is our cover guy.

Right, but he can be. He has the tools to cover more real estate, and to deny rather than ONLY sticking the hit after the completion. He doesn't yet have the skills to do it, but he has the potential to be the total package. I'm not saying he's going to be a hybrid CB or anything, but he has significantly more there than what he's shown so far. Chung was never going to be more than a reliable, better-than-just-solid box safety, and good on him. Dugger can be a true hybrid safety, able to take move TEs in man or play deep zones effectively.

Gotcha. If that's what BB wants that's what he'll do.

Per PFF podcast with Steve Palazzolo with Dr Eager(sp), Eager was bullish on the Detroit Lions in terms of wins on the year. Stated that you can't over estimate the gains on Anthony Lynn leaving. Lynn is the worst in game decision maker. Just behind Lynn in the worst category was Joe Judge.

Eager is the guy setting the over under on wins for the year for PFF.

Successful skinny role models for Tyquan Thornton. They left Randy Moss off the list for some reason but he's the pinnacle role model imo.

I love the opening of the article. It's so spot on typical of us:

You have to admit, on some level it is classic New England Patriots fan behavior to spend a decade PINING for a wide receiver that can

Take the TOP OFF a defense
Make a defense RESPECT the deep ball
Give the passing game some EXTRA JUICE
BE A LEGITIMATE FIELD-STRETCHING PLAYMAKER
Give Brady....er, Mac the deep threat we haven’t had since Randy Moss

Finally inject some ATHLETICISM into this offense

and when Bill Belichick and the draft war room ... draft the literal fastest wide receiver available in 2022, half of us are like “... no not like THAT.”
