I'm going to plug The Gray Man, which is a new release on Netflix.
It's based on a legendary character in the world of international espionage, ex-CIA mercenary Court Gentry, from an excellent series of books by Mark Greaney. I've read several of them and was impressed. Ryan Gosling was very solid in the title role, which requires him to be both a prolific killing machine with no friends or family and yet still be a fine, young man with a big heart. The level of violence and the body count is way up there, and is ridiculous, but the European sets and the action look very good and I found it to be satisfying entertainment with tons of explosions, wrecked buildings and vehicles.
Purists might gripe because of the director's changes or eliminations from the novel, but If you like the spy/action genres you may enjoy it. I just learned that NF has
confirmed that it's now a franchise and a sequel and spin-off have been planned.
