Hoyuh or Zap/E?

LOL. Good one. I like Zappe a lot. I mentioned over the summer that I went to a TC practice with my brother and was impressed with Zappe. I am glad he got a chance to shine yesterday. His calmness and leadership really stood out in a high pressure game.

To answer the question of the thread, I want Zappe to play for as long as Mac is out. There is no reason to play Hoyer especially now that Zappe has shown he has the goods. The issue is Bill has loyalty to Hoyer so I believe as soon as he is cleared, he is playing. Might be this week vs Detroit.

Have to agree that there's little reason not to give Zappe more playing time. He showed he could handle a tough situation with poise. Give him first-team reps and he should be even better.

I'm not expecting him to supplant Mac or anything, but pretending Hoyer has anything left to give (without a clipboard in his hands) is laughable. I understand BB going with Hoyer yesterday since he chose 'reliable veteran' over uncertainty, but I hope yesterday answered any doubts about Zappe.

IMO, Zappe should start until Mac comes back and once everyone is healthy BB could even shed Hoyer from the roster entirely.

Nothing wrong with the kid when you see him in the most iconic and partisan stadium in the country and handled it. And seemed to enjoy it!

Despite not having many nice things about Hoyer throughout the years, I was sorry to see him exit the game due to injury. But at some point, Zappe had to get the nod. While I don't expect this team to pull an '01 and not lose a game after Thanksgiving, I think he can play and at least give Jones the time he needs to make a proper recovery.

Heard a report that the Pats fans in attendance were chanting his name (that could barely be heard on TV.)

I understand why they did it yesterday but I hope they don't keep the training wheels on him next game, assuming he's the starter. Let the kid sling it and run the offense.

Interesting to me. I hadn’t even considered that we would start Hoyer this week.

What is the current depth chart?

I was for starting Zappe last week. I'm pretty sure Hoyer can't go this week, but I do think he gives the Patriots the best shot at winning. Zappe did what he was supposed to do in a really rough situation, but he's limited in all sorts of ways. He does, however, force the coaches into running the hell out of the ball and using a lot of play action, which is a good thing.

Hoyer did well.

I was in favor of Zappe starting because I thought it was barely in Hoyer's favor for a particular game, and the long term benefit of Zappe becoming a tradable asset was good enough to offset the difference.

After watching Hoyer's start and Zappe's game, I think it's significantly in Hoyer's favor for a specific game, but he's out, so let's enjoy the kid and root him on.

I am pleased to see Zappe get some reps and a start or two before Jones comes back I will go a long way to helping the team over all feel thy have a legitimate chance to compete no mater who is in.

Like what?? I'm in Canada this week with crappy internet where I am. Did n't see the game or any clips.
They can use the entire playbook with Hoyer since he's been there for so long and knows it well, not to mention Zappe doesn't have the benefit of having a real OC to help him along. That's not a slight at Zappe, it wouldn't be reasonable to think he or anybody in his position would have the playbook down at this point. Plus, and not that Hoyer is a big guy, but Zappe looks so little out there. Listed at 6'1" but I think they might be rounding up a couple of inches. I'd still rather see Zappe out there than Hoyer, even if Hoyer does well you know if it's close Hoyer is probably going to do something stupid to cost them the game. Zappe might too, but at least you can blame it on him being a rook and it won't be as demoralizing to the team.
