Looking at the Patriots 2023

Troy Brown, Adam Vinatieri, Bruschi, Ty Law, Milloy and of course Brady.
Talk about revisionist history, no one was talking about any of them as big stars. Law and Milloy were considered good players but not even stars. You're making my point because no one new they were stars at the time just like we have no idea what players on this team will be.

If the Patriots really do suck this year several things will happen.

1. Mac Jones will not have his 5th Year Option picked up by the Patriots for what could be $38-$40M
2. Bob Kraft will not keep Bill Belichick as the GM with a $162M in Cap space to spend on FAs.
3. Bill Belichick may not even be the HCNEP
4. Johnathan Kraft may take over the football business operation from his dad and there will definitely be a culture change
5. IMO Jerod Mayo will NOT be the next Patriots HC. J. Kraft will go straight to a younger college HC.
6. The Patriots offense will be yanked out of the 1998-2010 QB mindset of a pocket passer.
7. Coaches on the Patriots will all have titles and all of the positions will have coaches.

We all will bitch, piss and moan, but in the end, we'll all still be Patriots fans.

Welp, since you presented these speculative (at best) opinions as fact, we are going to need citations for each. Thank you. Have a nice day.:thumb:

I think you are the one mis-rembering history. Ty Law was a first team all pro in 1998 and led the league in interceptions. He also signed one of the richest contracts for CBs in 1999. Milloy was a first team all pro in 1999 and also made multiple pro bowls.
Adam V. joined the Pats in 1996 and every year he was one of the most consistent and clutch kickers in the league.
Bruschi was literally the heart and soul of the Pats defense from 1996 on as their most versatile LB. He could play the run, the pass and rush the QB.

I am not sure what point you are trying to prove. But the 2001 team had many great players. Of course they didn't become house hold names until after the SB win, but they were great prior to winning their first ring.

Why don't you?
Because none of us could ever reasonably approach your great wisdom and knowledge. I mean, how could any of us possibly be able to predict the fortunes of an NFL team more accurately than a self-described legendary Little League baseball coach?

Define "really do suck", please.

BB has to find a way to keep Boutte and Douglas on the 53...they won't make it to the PS and both are playing well.
I think Douglas is pretty much a lock at this point. Early in the GB preseason game Douglas executed 2 quick plays then sat, not to be seen the rest of the game. He's in.
Boutte has executed when given the chance. He's making his case. He's not your average 6th rnd pick.

Sorry but I'm not miss remembering shit, I had season tickets that 01 season and already mentioned law and Milloy, but they were hardly considered superstar players. No one Kew who Teddy Bruschi or Troy Brown was nationally, and to us they were just the best of what we had, he'll Bruschi was still just a 3rd down LB at that point. You're the one miss remembering that 01 team as a group of difference makers, they weren't, they were a scrappy group that came together and became more.

i DID notice that and let me tell you,it was one of the few things i did see!
unfortunately, nfln did NOT show this game at all though it was supposed to be on yesterday at 4. a search turned up no alternate showings. wonder if they refused to air it because of bolden? anyway,i found a horrible copy on you tube and watched that. it was as if the person recording it had zoom on so you'd only see part of the field,a few players, etc. very strange.and frustrating.

Bourne's play was the highlight of the game for me. I thought the WR's as a unit ran solid routes (I normally go back and re-watch to be sure of what I think I saw but haven't yet). I've had my hopes up that Bourne is going to step it up to the next level since he got here. Really hoping that proved true this season.
He looks great so far. He was in Patricia's never ending dog house so damn fast last season and stayed there. Different than Mac I think Bourne was partially to blame as he seemed to have given up on the season whereas Mac just got more and more pissed. And BTW, I LIKED that he was pissed. I LIKED that he was frustrated. I like that he showed it. Everyone seems to want to beat him up over it, but I think he knew very early on the season was doomed and lying about it for 18 weeks was going to do no good.

The Herald article that Chevv posted talks about a "new" Mac Jones. We're not watching a new Mac Jones. We're watching the Mac Jones we drafted. The Mac Jones at Alabama. The Mac Jones rookie year. This is literally his second year leap.

Kudos to the kid for surviving the most dumb decision Bill Belichick ever made. As I have mentioned before, someday (I hope), we should find out what the reason for Belichick doing what he did, and then doubling down on dumb by continuing with it all season. My own personal opinion is that he placed his loyalty to Matt Patricia, higher than he did the team success.

All of that said, Bill Belichick is the GOAT and it's not even close.

I kinda wondered around above didn't I? :ROFLMAO:

I was going to mention Sokol, who I've made fun of as being the latest in a long line of underwhelming Patriot UDFA-type TEs that cannot block or catch, but I
decided that he might actually be a respectable 3rd stringer after watching him throw a crushing block on somebody Saturday night.

We're going to have to cut a few useful guys later this month and I figure Sokol is a good candidate to not get plucked off the waiver wire and get on the PS.

My general rule of thumb is that you should be able to either block or catch to be an NFL TE and this guy might be able to serve as our
"we've gotta help one of tackles or Mac is going to get killed" guy. Neither Henry or Gesicki is that guy.

And your point is?

You don't like what I write, you have several options.

1. You can ignore it.
2. You can make a factual response different
3. You can agree.
or

4. You can ask a stupid question that serves no purpose whatsoever other than you feel like you added something. Or embarrassed someone.

If you have a different point of view, share it. This is sports, not politics.

I'm pushing the blue button now.
I was tempted to do #1, but thought maybe you weren't aware that you were coming across like a brash, know-it-all asshat, so I thought I'd point it out in a way that could be taken in stride. Seems like you already know you come across that way, so... 🤷‍♂️

We disagree here all the time.

No we don't :harumph:
