The dynasty is truly over

They've got the #3 pick in the draft because Belichick's failed on every level in recent years, including making multiple decisions that were firing worthy on their own. It's one thing to hope that he'll turn it around. It's another completely to just blindly assume that he would have done so in New England, given that this team was still spiraling down the drain in year 4 of the rebuild.
When she is the only one to like all of your posts, says a lot.

It's weak sauce to misstate what I said and/or attribute to me things I never said or implied.

I didn't completely and blindly assume anything. Not that the team will turn it around nor that it will continue to degrade. Both are incredibly stupid to assume, and I didn't/wouldn't say either.

I said the team went through 2 bad years with a lot of bad luck and bad decisions. Not solely BB but a perfect storm things that didn't work out as planned, and that the Pats would be better off with BB than Mayo this coming year. As such I think

What I did say was that slumps happen and making a decision based on "multiple decisions that were firing worthy on their own" is a stupid way to try to be successful without taking into account the history of the person making the decisions and the factors that went into them at the time (not hindsight), and the factors that caused failure or success of the plans. Making franchise-altering decsions based on the last few games or seasons or whaever and ignoring the strengths of an asset isn't bright. I also thing the Krafts badly mistreated an asset who gave them a lot.

But the bottom line is that I think the Pats would have been better off with Belichick than they are after firing him. You don't. Okay. Differences of opinions is what makes Kraft Kings, horse racing, etc. possible.

I agree. The collaboration the Krafts installed in 2020 is at fault for the Patriots slide into oblivion and Jonathan is absolutely the right guy
to right the ship for success. Smart football guy, that Jonathan.

I wasn't misstating what you posted. I was responding to it. And, with regards to your 4th paragraph, Belichick survived multiple decisions that would have gotten other coaches fired. That's likely because his history was taken into account. But, sooner or later, that credit runs out.

I do find it interesting that so many people seem to think that Belichick shouldn't be held to the same standards to which he held others, and I do find it interesting to see the wagons circling around both BB and the Krafts, when the obvious answer to most of the post-mortem "Why/Who/How" questions is (c) Both. But I don't find the interesting enough to deliberately misstate and/or attribute wrongly. On the current subjects, there would be no need for me to do so even if it were something I thought should be an option.

Belichick had this team in a death spin. Whether he could have gotten them out of it is something we'll never know. Whether this group will get them out if it is something that will take time to see. But the truth is the truth, and the truth is that, for whatever reason, BB was no longer getting it done, and year 4 of his rebuild resulted in a team bad enough to get the 3rd pick in the draft.

Was it the collaboration that was behind Matt Patricia being the O.C.?

That's what the Krafts said. BB ran everything through them after the 2020 season.

Was it the collaboration that prevented BB from trading Mac and signing Mayfield?

Yes, again. Only this time it was RKK and Jonathan who prevented the trade and then after '22 asked BB to hire BOB for '23 to see what he could do with Mac.

Was it the collaboration that made the Pats have the lowest cash spending in the league for the last 4 years?

No. That was the Krafts. BB made mention of that over 2 years ago. The Krafts denied it but studies have shown it's true. They lied.

Honestly, Bill Belichick earned the right to stay as long as he wanted. It’s a facking disgrace he got pushed out of the job.
i love bb but i don't think anyone earns the right to leave when they want. what he did deserve was to be sent off with class. he showed it,the krafts did not.

99% of the head coaches I totally agree with that statement. Bill Belichick is the exception. I don’t care if he went 0–17 every year for the rest of his career because thanks to him I have 20 years of awesome memories.
