Looking at the Patriots - 2019

Many times, these schedule "leaks" turn out to be wrong, however....

Miami in September doesn't thrill me.

Week 10 bye is good as is Week 17 with Dolphins in cold Gillette.

edit: No west coast trips is always good.

I know the Pats usually start out slow, but there's no reason why this team shouldn't be 7-0 heading into that Browns game.

You know the Steelers fans aren't happy about opening vs the Pats in Gillette with the banner being raised. I wouldn't be happy going there to open the season...

He actually maintained good production through bad Manning, Trevor Siemian and Case Keenum as his QBs. He's not the big, fast outside guy Hakeem Butler is so the Pats should still be in discussion for such a WR in the draft; it's still a need, iow. One other important thing to factor in is that IF his injury heals in time and IF he makes the team, he's a wily 31 year old veteran who can teach a rookie a few tricks if nothing else. That's the downside. The upside is that he returns to be the 1,000 yd/6-8 TD outside WR he's been. To me this is a classic low risk-high reward signing by BB.

This Denver fan/commentator (Denver's Fitzy lookalike) is pissed the Pats signed him.

Or, he will be the next Eric Decker.

Demaryius Thomas' deal

$150K to sign.
$150K reporting bonus.
$1.2 million base.
$1.406 million in per-game rosters.
$750K for 60 catches.
$750K for 800 yards.
$750K for 1000 yards.
$750K for 1200 yards.

As suspected, his contract is low on guarantees and high on performance incentives. $1.5M "guaranteed" + performance incentives is a LOT different than "up to $6M". Very good deal for the Pats imo. Pretty low cap hit if he doesn't make the team.

Numbers are team favorable.

My biggest concern is over 30 with Achilles problem. But low risk/potential reward. He’s a piece. If Gordon is reinstated and we draft Butler & Isabella we’re in great shape. Jmo.

The 1st five line items add up to his cap hit...$2.906M

That's very reasonable imo.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick turned 67 today. I'm less convinced he's close to the end than I have been in a while. Why?
1) He genuinely loves it, so it's not work.
2) He has Foxboro wired to the point where it's not turnkey, but he has his time.
3) He's still the best at it.

Breer forgot possibly the most important item - he’s working with his kids. You KNOW that gives him the massive pants tent Holiday craves.

Great to get the Steelers early while they're confused and adjusting, but the second week at Miami sucks. With that heat it's an L. I see another L either at Buffalo or at the Jets. At the Ravens or at the Eagles will be another L. The key to the season will be the three game stretch of the Cowboys at home, Texans on the road, and Chiefs at home; sweep those and you're the #1 seed at around 13-3, falter there and you're 11-5 and the 3rd or 4th seed.

At 11-5 who do you see in the AFC better?
