Official Boston Celtics/NBA Thread:

they had a better record without him this year. Play Smart at the point, rotate Scary and JB at the 2, get a real offensive big and I think they're a better team.

Terry Rosier should never be anywhere near a NBA starting lineup. Certainly not as a 2-gaurd. He's barely 6'.

I'd prefer my starting point guard to at least threaten to score when he's got the ball, as well. Love Marcus Smart, but he's Rondo without the sick passing skills.

They’re all insufferable. Thus my interest in the team building FA draft and then watch peripherally. Can’t stand their general makeup.

Have you heard Durant or Curry give an interview? James Harden? Frickin Embid? Anthony Davis? Are you kidding me with this?
Yes and none are worst than the flat earther to me, and no I'm not kidding.

No KD no problem. When it mattered most Steph Curry the greatest pure shooter in history took over. Klay Thompson is going to get PAID this offseason. James Harden puts up stats but just can't get over the hump. Warriors are on the verge of a 3-peat.

No idea if this was discussed, haven't been following much. But pissed me off no end when Pierce guaranteed the series after game one. :4321:

Cheers

End of me and the Celtics for the year.

I don’t particularly follow hoops that much. GS strictly from afar. But why would they ever let Klay walk? He seems a PERFECT compliment there.

He's going to want the max deal & will get it. He has taken some shots so they could land KD & Boogie. It's his time now & he has told them that. GS can afford him when KD walks. I'm just 100% sure KD will leave. Everyone thinks he wants to join his bff Kyrie in NY. We'll see. Simonns reported that "he heard" that the real reason Lue didn't get the Lakers job is because Kyrie wants to go play with big bro again but doesn't want to play for Lue. Lakers are a disaster & NBA players seem to be able to call their shots like no other league.

This is a pretty amazing series winning moment.

the old 4 bounce and drop shot. Amazing finish!!!

IMO, a huge rawdog to Philly is never a bad thing

I was rooting for them. Brett Brown was 2 years ahead of me in high school. Led us to back-to-back undefeated seasons and state titles. They weren't just winning, they were annihilating everybody along the way, winning games by an average of 50+ points and scoring 100+ just about every time out.

He is an interesting guy, even more interesting was his path to the NBA.

too bad he is in Philly.

Draft Position Night for the Celtics!!

I really wish I understood what their odds are but with dealer Danny making all these trades of picks I forget what is what.

for instance the Sacramento Pick we own goes to philly if it is the number 2 over all pick, but can the Celtics get the 1st over all pick if it lands there?

There’s no clearer example they do not test for marijuana in the NBA than some of the permutations of how draft pick trades are formulated.

Oh yeah, maybe the leagues salary cap.

looked it up and after much confusion the Celtics And Sacramento picks is not number 2 protected but number one protected

"Here is what they possess going in:

• Their own first-round pick, 22 overall.

This is based on their 49-33 record. The Celts actually were tied with Oklahoma City, but the Thunder won the tiebreaker that was conducted by the league last month just after the end of the regular season. So OKC will pick at 21.

• Their own second-round pick, 51 overall.

• The No. 20 pick in the first round.

This pick originally belonged to the Clippers, who sent it to Memphis in February 2016 with Lance Stephenson so Doc Rivers could be reunited with Jeff Green. (This is one of the reasons Doc no longer runs the Clips’ basketball ops.)

The Celtics got hold of the pick on draft night 2016 when they traded first- and second-round picks to the Grizzlies for the right to the choice, which was lottery protected. So when the Clippers made the playoffs, the C’s got the pick.

Those picks the Celts gave the Grizzlies? They were Nos. 31 and 35 overall, which became, respectively, Deyonta Davis, who has played 107 NBA games in three years, and Rade Zagorac, who signed with the Grizz a year later in July and was waived four months after that.

• Sacramento’s first-round pick (most likely).

The Celtics will get the better of the Kings and 76ers picks, which would make it seem fairly obvious it’ll be the Sacramento choice, seeing how Philadelphia made the playoffs and the Kings did not. But the pick is protected for the top slot, and if the Sacramentites buck the longest odds (they are tied with Charlotte and Miami with a 1 percent chance) and get Zion Williamson … I mean, the No. 1 position, they still won’t be lucky. The Sixers will get the pick. This was originally part of the July 2015 deal between Philly and the Kings in which the latter sent Nik Stauskas, Carl Landry and Jason Thompson for second-round picks Arturas Gudaitis and Luka Mitrovic, with the 76ers also getting the right to swap positions in 2017.

They did so, moving up from 5 to 3 and promptly dealing No. 3 to the Celtics for their rights to No. 1. The Sixers took Markelle Fultz, the Kings took De’Aaron Fox, and the Celts took Jayson Tatum. They also, for trading places with Philly, got this pick.

As it stands, the C’s have a 1.1 percent chance of getting No. 2 this year, 1.2 percent of getting No. 3 and 1.4 percent of landing No. 4. There is a 95.2 percent shot the pick will stay at 14.

• Memphis’ first-round pick.

The Celtics will get this one if it is not in the top eight, and if it is and the Grizzlies get to keep it, it’ll only be protected through the top six next year. And if it’s not conveyed by then, the Celts will get Memphis’ pick unprotected in 2021.

This one came to Boston via a three-year deal in January 2015. New Orleans was also involved (remember, the Celts had Austin Rivers for a minute before sending him to his father/the Clippers), but the initial part had the C’s dealing Jeff Green to the Grizzlies for Tayshaun Prince and this pick.

A month later, Prince was part of another three-team trade, this one with Phoenix and Detroit that netted the Celts Isaiah Thomas, Jonas Jerebko and Gigi Datome.

As for Tuesday, Memphis has a 26.2 percent chance of landing in the top four, with a 31.2 percent chance of getting No. 8, all of which would allow them to keep it. The odds of it getting to the Celtics are 34.1 percent for No. 9, 8.0 percent for 10, 0.5 percent for 11 and a statistically even more minute shot for 12.
