Hi all, Happy Holidays!

I just finished a sale on my Ebay store for a Queen Greatest Hits picture disc.. It's pretty rare, and I expected to get around $150 - $200 for it. A buyer from Germany won the listing for $710.00!! I couldn't believe it! His message to me was something like, my favorite band was Queen growing up, and would have gone as high as $1,000 if need be..

It got me to thinking, what was your favorite record(s) growing up? Or, what was the dawning of your music realization? When I was like 6, I remember hearing "Hang on Sloopy" by the McCoys.. that was the first song that ever "stuck" and wasn't just white noise..

What was yours?

Beatles' 'Abbey Road' album had the same effect on me at about the same age.

KISS: Destroyer.

Annihilus won it in a game of marbles in the 4th grade and it was all downhill from there. He had to sneak it in the house because his parents didn't approve. He'd get up in the middle of the night to listen to it on the stereo in the living room on such a low volume you had to put your ear up to the speaker to hear it. ;)

As far as more modern tastes, The Cure's Standing on a Beach was the dawning of his main love of alternative music.

:thumb: That album still smokes

Growing up with five older siblings, I always listened to their albums. The Beatles were the big presence in our house.

The first album I bought for myself was A Night at the Opera when I was 14.

I was about 5 years old when I first heard Metallica :) I blame my cousin for my obsession and I thank him :)

I love music of all types but I have my top 5 obsessions :)

When I was about 4 years old I took my brother's tape recorder and recorded myself singing to Like a Virgin by Madonna. That is the first song that stuck with me from what I can remember go figure LOL. I didn't know the words so I made up my own jibberish. I wish I knew where that tape was

Me too! Givin' to me by a girl for my birthday in the 6th grade.

I still have it and still play it. Still has the original KISS Army application on the inside dust cover.

LMAO hey I can laugh at myself and if you did have it I'd say go do whatever you want with it :)

It's been MIA for YEARS! :) It could of been worse I could have been video taping myself doing a dance and singing but that's what little kids do :)

The Beatles were the first group I remember going ga-ga over.

Also remember being nuts over Kiss' Destroyer and Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic.

It all went downhill from there... :p

The first one I bought for myself, was the Stones "Hot Rocks" on 8-Track lol..

My first 3 albums I bought at nearly the same time...

The Kinks - Give the people what they want

Rush - Moving Pictures

Ozzy Osborne - Diary of a Madman

I had some Jimi Hendrix, Doors, and Janis Joplin hand me downs when I was about 12...forget which ones.

I used to play them LP's on my orange and yellow plastic turntable, cranking to the Doors!

Kiss Alive (the 1st one.... what are they up to now, 5 or 6 live albums!)

Aerosmith - Toys in the attic.

My older brother had these and it was the first time I locked in to music. Never been the same since! :D

I'm too much of a purist. I don't count greatest hits as actual albums. :D

Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me was the one that sold me on them.

god no,

Jon Moss (born Jonathan Aubrey Moss, 11 September 1957, Wandsworth, London, England) is the former drummer for the bands Culture Club, London (including their single "Everyone's A Winner" and album, Animal Games), Adam and the Ants (drums on the song, "Cartrouble"), The Damned, The Nipple Erectors and (briefly) The Clash.

but he was too pretty and let go

The first music that really got me was from the old Beatles cartoons on TV. That was probably mid-60's or so and I liked "She was just 17" and "Roll Over Beethoven", "Do you want to know a secret" and all that stuff.

I'm going to go on Youtube to see if they have any on there. I just found a bonanza of Bobby Orr highlights and I'm beginning to think everything is on there (but porn).

The only thing close at that time was the comedy albums of Alan Sherman of "Camp Granada" fame. I still remember all the lyrics.
