Patriots Free Agency 2023

Actually, Jack Jones graded better in coverage than KC's McDuffie and Marcus Jones graded better in coverage than KC's Williams per PFF.

He did put up good coverage grades, yes. But couldn’t stay on the field. If he does it again in 2023 and can’t reliably stay on the field then the team needs 2 new starting corners.

He's not bad at safety...but, he's abysmal at LARPing at CB!!!! Case closed!

Link please. How do we know he’s decent at safety? I can’t remember him being good at…anything

His hair is still green, so probably not much. :coffee:

There's no dead money if cut, so could get cut at any point without costing the Pats anything.

He’s a master at getting hurt though so if he gets hurt, can’t get cut yes ?

The Pats last draft was good so far...

After the first two picks it wasn’t bad. But no the first two picks haven’t lived up to their draft position yet. Thornton did nothing and Strange had a bumpy season and got his arse kicked for a month straight at one point (and overall mediocre grade for the year - not ideal for a first rounder). Would have loved to take McDuffie and Chenal instead, both of whom were available that the Pats passed on

Mills played FS all 4 years he was at LSU. Mills was thought to have FS/CB flexibility when he came out; same as DMac.
He was drafted by the Eagles as a FS. In his 2nd year with Philly, 2 starting CBs went down and Mills was forced to play CB.
He did pretty well so Philly kept him at CB for the next year.
He played FS & CB for the Eagles who won against NE in the SB.

FS was always his natural position. He only played CB out of necessity, first for the Eagles and then for NE.

You know, you could look this stuff up on your own.

Matt Miller, NFL draft analyst, thinks the Pats did very well in FA.

Miller: New England Patriots. Going from Matt Patricia/Joe Judge to Bill O'Brien at offensive coordinator was by itself a big enough move to warrant inclusion. But pass-catchers JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mike Gesicki are also huge additions to boost the play of third-year quarterback Mac Jones.

A thorough article on NE's needs on D after the 1st week of FA.

One need mentioned in this article is Will LB.

was listening to sirius nfl the other day. NAPOLIAN approves of the pats signing juju and gesicki. says pats are 1 of 2 teams that helped themselves most so far.

He has been on a slightly increasing "I can't have my legacy be a Patriots HATER" kick for a while now.

But, he is correct. Aside from the Dolphins and maybe the Lions the Patriots have had a great off season so far. You have to account for BoB, Fangio and the coaches the Lions retained first. Then add the players.

Fortunately most don't seem to agree with you. Regular season rookie grades for Patriots’ 2022 draft class
