Wow. Epic piece of art

I can never really appreciate this level of work in person, because I get terribly nervous I'll end up destroying it somehow.

That is incredible. I'm always amazed at works like this. I have neither the skill nor the patience to pull off any like this, and I have a difficult time comprehending what it actually takes.

Thanks for sharing.

That is truly mind-bending. In addition to the amazing detail and artistry, I can't help but wonder how this thing was moved without smashing it. It must weight several tons.

I recently visited Alaska and bought a book on totem pole carving and have started some small projects to learn the techniques.

After seeing this I know that anything I make will be pathetic by comparison, but, hopefully, whoever sees my efforts won't ever see this masterpiece.

Four years. Jesus.

Color me ambivalent. It is beautiful and a courageous endeavor but I wonder about the artist's mindset regarding time allocation and efficiency. Then again, Da Vinci spent 4 yrs on a 2'6"X1'9" painting and still never finished the most famous painting in the world today...the "Mona Lisa".

I'm no artist so I'm no one to judge these things.

Can this be a "cool art" thread?
