Buying a second tablet, shuld I go with a 2nd Samsung or get an Apple?

The one reason I'm hesitant on Apple is my brother bought my mother an Apple air 2 a few weeks ago and she had me set it up, I need to use a stylus in my mouth to operate a tablet, and for some reason the apple air didn't respond well with the stylus. My Galaxy responds great, then one of my buddies told me a story about Steve Jobs saying if you build a tablet right you should never have to use a stylus. Well that don't help me

Well then I would go with what you know and what works for you.

I was wondering if it was just a fluke

Hard to say. I have not used my iPad with a stylus. I think Android may have an advantage here.

I do use speech to text recognition A LOT on my Apple stuff. It is nearly flawless. Two taps of the 'fn" button on my rMBP and I am on my way - speaking - and watching the text appear on the screen. In fact, I'm doing it right now! :)

I'm with this guy. Apple works and I've been using Apple comps in a business setting with constant internet access, phones and tablets, too, and haven't had a "freeze" or viral issue since I went to Apple over 3 years ago. I'm never going back to DOS. I like the freedom and reliability Apple gives me w/out the threat of blackouts/freezes/downtime of DOS.

DOS???

My Laptop runs Windows 7 and it doesn't hang any more than my iPhone (which does act up from time to time and then needs rebooting). The bluetooth (which I use a daily) seems to trigger some of the issues on my iPhone.

I also don't like that I can't add storage (memory) to it. It's a 64 GB iPhone 4s, and it's pretty much full.

There's something called the Cloud that you can dl all those photos and videos to that will free up your gigs. Or put em on a computer.

Or upgrade to the 6s which I did just yesterday.

Maybe Google photos?

I find a lot of people don't understand cloud computing and what it offers. It's the way of the future. Lots of folks are fixated on paying for storage on a device and carrying it everywhere. Imagine going on a trip somewhere without a suitcase and when you get to your hotel, all your clothes and stuff are in your room waiting for you. That's cloud computing.

It's pretty awesome, it really is. Incredibly convenient.

It's also a disaster waiting to happen. I don't care how safe people say it is, it's just a continuation of what will lead to our robot overlords.

Just think....all of your stuff floating out there in 'the cloud', safe...secure...impenetrable. Until it's not. Pretty soon the earth is going to be one giant hackable database.

You know it's coming. Cloud is a giant step towards that. I'm not going to waste my time worrying about it, but when the sky falls, don't say I didn't tell you so. Coffee.

I have everything on my computer, but that has nothing to do with the phone being full (mostly music).

If I need to buy a new phone, it will be one that has a memory slot (unless my company pays for a new phone).

Love this analogy. I buy the most current technology I feel will help me but I buy it with the least amount of storage available. Memory? Yes. Storage? Minimal.

I have over 56,000 songs stored on Amazon Music. Costs me $25/year and I can allow up to 10 devices or computers acces to it. When the occasion arises that I actually want my music on a local computer for some reason, I download it. Amazon provides the highest quality version of the song they have rather than the sometimes low fidelity version I may have uploaded.

Works like a charm.

Yeah, it's OK for music, but nothing personal, as plenty of cloud servers have been hacked (and likely will continue to be hacked).

Me, I like having all my music on the device, and the technology exists to do this (just not with apple), so that's what I'll buy. Now if my company insists on buying me another iPhone (they do pay my bill), so be it.

Have three Samsung tablets (all higher end) and like them all. Still end up using the iPad 2 the majority of the time, though.

Prefer the Samsung tablets for work related things, I have to admit, but for just messing around and reading (kindle) I prefer the iPad.

That's great, until you arrive in Vegas and find out your luggage is in Boise Idaho.

I'm only storing music and some pics in the cloud though so if someone wants to hack that it is no concern. Anything sensitive I would never store there. Your point is well taken however.

Yeah, music and pictures aren't a big deal for the most part...but cloud is infesting EVERYTHING. I work for an international software company that is going all-in on the cloud. We have some pretty big customers with a lot of sensitive information in their databases that seem to be willing to jump right off of that cliff and just throw their shit up there, consequences be damned. A lot of companies do not have a cloud solution and are actively seeking one out.

It actually astonishes me that the push to move basically everything into the cloud is taking traction so quickly and seemingly without a ton of concern.

I have a question for you....if you are reading on your iPad using the Kindle app, how can you even tell the difference between Apple and Android? Don't you just 1.) Open the book you want to read 2.) Read a page 3.) swipe to the next page?

I do that on my $50 10" android tablet and if I didn't already know what I had, it could be a tablet from any manufacturer, really.
