Pats FA thread

James White is returning. So we have are best 3rd down back returning.

White a huge part of Pats offensive. Cam gets his favorite target from last year returning.

White was not his favorite target. He mostly threw the ball either behind him or at his feet. White had one of his worst statistical seasons with Cam. It was Meyers that was Cam's go to guy. I hope Cam works on his screen pass and short game because they were atrocious all season. Actually, I really hope he is NOT our starting QB.

Thank God!

We need guys that can catch balls at their feet.

<unless we get a QB>
IF Cam has the same issues . basically No production from WR & TE. The Offense won't be reason this year. Everyone hoping hes trades up to get a Top Rated QB.

Really really happy to see white back.

Doesn’t really matter with Cam at the helm, but hopefully in the next year or two he’ll be a fresh young QBs best friend.

You can take this for what it is worth but I have a friend who knows one of the strength trainers with the Pats. He told me Bill is willing to move all the way up to #5 to get a QB. I pray this is true.

Cincy might be best landing spot. They need O-line help. As I said in a earlier post. If you offer Wynn & couple high round draft pick. You can make that move to get Fields or lance .

I disagree. We don't have one receiver that scares a defense at all. We have a bunch of Jags and Edelman is done even if he tries to come back. That being said, it is pretty obvious that Bill is going TE/RB heavy this season which is fine to try to get back on track. With Cam or a rookie at QB, we are not going to be a down the field team anyways. We are going to be smash mouth and plot down the field. It won't be every exciting but hopefully should be effective in helping us to ball control and limit turnovers.

You won’t answer this, because it doesn’t fit your narrative, but how is Agholor a JAG?

Not Fields. Please, NOT Fields....

Me too.

I was really hoping it was for three years.
Why would you want a prove it year in this offense?

Me too. Figured he would capitalize on making a couple extra dollars while still in his 20's. I am psyched he's staying, though.

5, 6 or 7 are easy trade ups. 3 would be costly

Here's how I see it for the teams in need of QBs.
1. Jags- TLawrence
2. JETE - Zach Wilson
3. Miami -
4. Atlanta - (high probability they will ride with Matt Ryan) A lot rides on what Atlanta does here. If they don't take a QB, Mac Jones could fall to 15.
5. Bengals -
6. Eagles -
7. Lions -
8. Panthers - Trey Lance
9. Denver - Mac Jones here or a trade up with Miami for Fields at 3 or with Bengals for Lance at 5. They need a QB.
10. Cowboys -

In this scenario the top 5 QBs will be gone by pick 9.
If you're BB, how would you play this out?
15 is worth 315 pts
3 is worth 514. Deficit = 200 pts.
5, 468. = 153 pts Our picks 46 and 120 = 151 pts. So our 15, 46 and 120 would/should do it.
6, 446. = 131 pts Our 46 = 128 pts. So our 15 and 46 should do it.
7, 425. = 110 pts.

The Patriots current 2021 draft capital is listed below:

  • Round 1, Pick 15 (15) - Assigned Selection
  • Round 2, Pick 15 (46) - Assigned Selection
  • Round 3, Pick 33 (96) - Compensatory Selection
  • Round 4, Pick 15 (120) - Assigned Selection
  • Round 4, Pick 17 (122) - From Arizona Cardinals through Houston Texans
  • Round 4, Pick 34 (139) - Compensatory Selection
  • Round 5, Pick 33 (177) - Compensatory Selection
  • Round 6, Pick 4 (188) - From Houston Texans
  • Round 6, Pick 13 (197) - From Dallas Cowboys
  • Round 7, Pick 15 (242) - Assigned Selection
46 = 128 pts
96 = 39.4 pts
120 = 23 pts
122 = 22 pts
139 = 15 pts
177 = 6.5 pts

How much is Gilmore worth in a trade? He'll be 31 in Sept. and wasn't great last year in the 11 games he played. He was PFF's 61st ranked CB last year and ranked 3rd on the Pats behind Jon Jones (5) and JC Jackson (29). A 3rd? Maybe because he wants a bigger deal this year. I'd have a hard time giving him the extra money he wants this year.
A lot rides on what Atlanta does here.
