Flagg the Wanderer
Mourning Algernon
Considering the weapons Miami has, the fumbles that gave them extra chances, the extra chance wrapped around halftime, and no Gilmore, I think the D held up pretty well. I was a little concerned with the toughness of the front 7 against an inexperienced and average-at-best OL, but I expect that to clear up pretty well as they gel.Our defense was not great either and we put the ball on the ground 4 times and lots of dumb penalties. But such is week one.
Here's to a much better week two!
Penalties and unforced errors will be cleaned up as the year goes on. The question is...how quickly?
Shouldn't matter this week, though. Miami offence > Jets' offence. Miami defense >>> Jets defence. And the chance of that many unforced errors and penalties cramping the Patriots again is very, very low.
Is there a position group matchup that doesn't favor the Patriots? Maybe Pats WRs vs. Jets. DBs. But even then, I don't think that extends to a Jets advantage when the Patriots pass overall - I think the pass blocking > pass rush, and the Patriots TEs and RBs > Jets coverage of those positions.
Babyfaced savant has to show off his mobility, because he will be running for his life. I see Uche with 1.5 sacks and multiple additional pressures.
Patriots 27, Jets 10.
