Looking at the Patriots - 2021

So PFF has the Patriots having both a top 5 Offense and a top 5 Defense.
There is no bigger homer than myself. But, I'm not buying into that.

Grades are adjusted for opponents. Our O has played some really good Ds and our D has played against really good Os.

I've been watching and rooting for the Patriots since 1974, when Jim Plunkett was the quarterback, and Chuck Fairbanks was the head coach (and a very good one, I might add). I say I've been watching the Patriots for a while, not to say I'm better than anybody; just to say I've seen them do very well, and very badly. I don't think the Patriots will beat the Dolphins tomorrow. This is based on their crap playing in Miami, nothing else. And I think they'll have a very hard time next weekend, in the playoff game. Now, as I've mentioned before, they've had a fine season-making the playoffs with a rookie quarterback. They've had good coaching, they picked up some good free-agents and drafted pretty well. Should they win tomorrow and/or in the playoffs, I'll be satisfied. They have to try to win every game, and they could surprise me, but I don't think so. I hope Mac Jones stays healthy in his career with the Patriots, and Belichick (or whoever their head coach is in the future), does a good job.

"They have to try and win every game, and they could surprise me, but I don't think so." Huh???

"I think the Patriots will try their best to win, but I don't think they will", is what I meant. As I said. But, they could win, I suppose. I'll be happy if the Pats win.

The other thing I saw this morning Chevs is they have used the last non-covid elevation on Wilkerson. But now that he has a protected status on the practice squad, those rules change for the playoffs and he can be elevated then if needed.

Yes, thank you. I edited my statement to more fully explain the use of a roster spot by bringing him up today.

This Pats team has beaten themselves more than any in recent memory. When they limit mistakes and play well they can hang with anyone but too often they lack experience and make mental mistakes that rise up to bite them. Hopefully they learn from those mistakes as they gain experience playing together. A few more players wouldn't hurt.

Q: Do you have any injury updates on Isaiah Wynn/Christian Barmore?
Bill Belichick on @TheGregHillShow: "No, not yet. We just got back late last night. We'll see how things go this morning, but I'd say we're hopeful."

One thing for sure is the team still has fight. They are mentally tough and don't let their heads drop. We don't get beaten badly even when we're so obviously mismatched against better teams like a Tampa or a Dallas, we still have the ability to claw them back and fight them all the way to the very end where both games could have been wins.

The unforced errors are infuriating, they come from literally no pressure from the opposition. It must be driving Bill absolutely mad. And I don't know how long Cameron Achord has to run on this team as ST coordinator. It has been pretty bad outside of Folk and not something Bill will put up with for long.

Three blocked punts would be completely unheard of for a Pats team. It's worrying.

Agree completely. They are mentally tough but waaaay too prone to dumb mistakes. Mac and the other young guys will learn.

Would be nice to get a win in the playoffs but that's about as much as we may be able to expect out of this group.
