Thanks all. Math and Chem come "easy" to him so hopefully he will do well. I think we let him party enough in HS so he can mostly focus in college.:)

"Hi Connor, its Mom. How's chemical engineering treating you?"
"I'm working on carbohydrate synchronization reduction techniques."

Translation: "I'm trying to make beer from newspaper."

So in two years, I will need to have my own place (I plan to be out this year). Apparently there is new rules going in for SSI Disability (when you don't qualify for Disability due one reason or another) that my sister and maybe my mom won't have an income (so she has been told). My sister could work with help, and had a job at one time, but due to her learning disability can't find one (a memory problem or something). She had a local organization was helping her, but the people working with her didn't help and they dropped her after she didn't find a job after losing the one she had.

My mom could have got the real disability if she worked long enough (didn't work once she got married, when my parents separated and divorced, she worked at a school until she got back problems and others).

In short, I need to get out before this happens otherwise it will be worse then now. If it wasn't for being so long at work and having a good job, I might consider moving out of state (not really to get away from them, but to get away from the stress of them being so close). Trying to find comfirmation via the internet but can't find any right now so I hope it isn't true.

SSI and Disability is a sham and a joke, there is no rhyme or reason to it. My Mother had to apply 3 times until she finally got it..when she was dying of Cancer. My Birth Mother has MS but is still quite capable to do everything (and in fact has a full time "volunteer" job at her YMCA) and she got it. The list of alcoholics and "nutjobs" that get it is endless.

My Ex Husband had a stroke almost 2 years ago and is pretty incapable of doing most things and keeps getting denied. This is of course quite hysterical to me and I can't enough of the thought of him drooling on himself but him getting it will be the only way for me to get my hands on the 20 + grand he owes me in back child support. Evil, I am :)

Scamming is a way of life, TG. It pisses me off to no end that while I bust my ass every single day, and have done so since I was 14 years old, that my taxes go to pay for the lazy fat asses that dropped out of high school and who pump out five kids by five different baby daddies so they teach them how to scam the system and collect all the free shit that this country is willing to give them while our farmers and veterans struggle to maintain a level that feeds their families and put clothes on their backs.

Then you have the SS system, which is broken. I just got my yearly statement, and I've contributed in excess of $250,000 to SS in my lifetime but may never see one red cent of it because the chances of SS surviving until my retirement age are sketchy, at best.

As far as your ex goes, kiss the 20 grand goodbye. You'll never see it. And he's paying the price for not taking care of his kids.

Lol, don't even get me started on welfare.:cuss: All of it is a huge scam, the bigger loser you are, the more you get to lay around. Ahhh, America. Gotta love it.

I'm not giving up yet! He may still get it and he has a pending lawsuit against he hospital that sent him home mid-stroke to walk 5 miles in the middle of the night.ROFL While of course hysterical to me, he does have a case.

I filed while still in the hospital and have been shot down once. I will not give up, I was med boarded from the military and it still took me 5 years to get disability benefits from the VA so it seems that the vast majority of government agencies that I have dealt with are screwed up.

It's raining here today and hopefully the Wheat crop can be saved yet..only time will tell. I also wanted to thank those serving in uniform for your continual vigilance in defending our country. To all of the Veterans I say thank you for your service to our country it is greatly appreciated.:thumb: And last but not least I just wanted to say Hi....I've missed my board friends and I think that you know who you are. Cheers everyone!!:thumb::toast:

My son is 18 today. I'm devastated. I have a picture of him on my desk of his first day of kindergarten wearing his little bus tag, with his little lunch money in his pocket....where did the time go?:sulk:

Welfare is awful. Our roomie just told us about someone he knows who has 5 kids at the age of 21. They purposely popped them out so they could collect welfare. Nevermind that all but 1 kid has been taken away but yet they still collect. How the F does that happen!!!!

Awwww.

Now, suck it up, cupcake. I have a 29 year old that's getting married in four months that used to hang on my back singing "I am stuck on Mommy" to the tune of "I am stuck on Bandaids, are Bandaids stuck on you." Where did THAT time go???? Especially since I'm only 39. ROFL

Cool tell him to head up to Ste Catherine Street in Montreal >)
