Bill and Kraft part ways

Yeah but after this I am sure he 10000 focused on his next team. Once he walked out the door he is "on to team XXXX". Not one ounce of thought being give to the Pats anymore.
What's to say that Bill doesn't go away for a few weeks, evaluates his future and decides that maybe he's had enough of coaching and decides to retire? Highly unlikely, but possible nonetheless.

I hope he goes and has a good few beers with Saban and they talk into the early hours.

It genuinely appeared incredibly amicable. Bill started off by saying it's a day of celebration and gratitude and thanked RKK and his family for everything they did for him. This was not like Pete Carroll yesterday, who was shocked and tearful. They both seemed totally at ease.

I give both men huge credit for the way they did this. It was so dignified and mature. Bill seems to have no anger or frustration at all.
Thank you.

So he was not fired but let go?

He will coach elsewhere I think but I hope it is in the NFC but still appreciate all he has done for the team and the fans.
Josh Harris loves him AND he's from Annapolis.

I know he and Bill are close, you think NS is maybe tapping Bill up to coach Bama?

edit: not being overly serious, I might add

I do think the loss of of assistants in the past couple years to retirements actually hurt him and he didn't know how to replace them. That will make his next stop interesting because the same will be true there.

Is Atlanta really that attractive with their roster? The offense isn't great there either. If he could improve them there will be some easy wins in that division but Atlanta has the AFCW and the NFCE to play next season.

I do blame the media as well. They are insufferable and drove this the past couple years.

If the defense regresses next year the "Why did the fire Bill again" stuff will pop up and rightfully so. Bill does pretty good with first round picks in hindsight so it is what it is.

Great TE, great RB, pretty good line and a good WR core. They need a QB, but that team could be very good very quick. Kind of like the Pats. Weird.

He sounded to me as if he already had an idea where he might be going. It was also interesting to me that >1/2 of his speech was thanking the fans with not nearly
so much time devoted to thanking RKK. So glad to see Jonathan was not included.
Vrabel > Mayo but all signs are pointing to Mayo as HC. Vrabel as GM would make me happy. We'll see.

Watching PU, Evan was at the presser and said Josh was there and Evan seems certain Josh is following Bill wherever he goes. That could be a good setup, Bill at HC and Josh as OC and maybe some more previous ACs of Bill's.

Hawg's bro, the one and only Jerry Thornton had a few awesome words today.

"Here are two personal stories that most of my friends and family know, but at worth retelling now:

1. My first full day as a WEEI employee was Monday in 2014. We met at the studio in Gillette Stadium. My producer and co-hosts filled my head with how to approach Bill Belichick. "Don't try to joke around with him; he'll shut you down. Don't try to act like you know football; he'll make you look stupid," etc. (Gee, thanks for helping me relax.) We were on the air when he walked in, sat down, put on the headset and said, "Dale. Michael. Good to see you. And Jerry ... It's an HONOR to finally meet you." First day on the job. First time we'd met. I'll never forget it.

2. When I first got copies of "From Darkness to Dynasty," we were back at Gillette for training camp. My devoted Irish Rose suggested I give Bill a copy. There was a good chance it would be super awkward if I did, but I brought one anyway. He came in studio after a hard practice and was in no mood. Basically at his monosyllabic best. To the point he dryly joked about how he wasn't giving us anything to work with. (I never minded.) When the segment was over I handed him a copy of the book. "Spoiler," I said. "You're in it and win the Super Bowl at the end." And his whole demeanor changed. He was gracious and congratulated me and thanked me for the book. Then he left to go do the daily press conference he was running late for. Two full minutes later, he came back in. "If you don't mind," he said. "Can I ask you to sign this for me?" I wrote, "Coach Belichick, Thank you for saving my football team. - Your pal, Jerry"

Two of my all time favorite moments. It was an HONOR to meet you, Bill."
