The 2024 Draft

You'd wonder if it's just fan talk or if there is something there that could see the team bring him in.

Mayfield would stabilize the position but I don’t think he’s ever going to be in the mix for winning a superbowl. I’d rather have the unknown potential and take one of the QBs in this draft. Even if you get an average guy at least you don’t have to pay him legit money a few years.
Nope. There are no certain winners at QB in this draft. HOPE is not an effective strategy. Get a productive vet (Mayfield works) and wait for better QB opportunities while filling out other needs that are certain (Harrison and obvious OT's).

There will be time and opportunities to get a QB. Quit wishing.

Yes but Tampa Bay would be foolish to let him hit FA. Tampa knows that and they want to keep him.

PFF's Big Board has 2 QBs in the top 10 picks. Jayden Daniels is #22. Otoh, with Kingsbury in Washington, Daniels seems to fit his offensive style better than Maye.
My guess is Washington trades back with another team that wants Maye and Washington drafts Daniels a little further back. If the Pats want Maye, Wolf should be
talking to them now.

I'm not sold on Harrison at 3. From the neck down, he's absolutely great but I've been watching his film for a while and I see some things that concern me that may also concern
NFL evaluators. Yes, I know my concerns aren't shared with the majority of media experts. I think he's a very good player but is he Chris Olave or Ja'Marr Chase good?

As we see with the QB situation, this is not a draft where there are players to die over. And that unfortunate truth, to me, includes Harrison. If he runs slow, if some real red flags come out, etc... I could envision a change in my stance.

Harrison is a great prospect, but he's not Calvin Johnson, in my mind, in terms of being that clean a WR choice.

Agree i almost feel like a trade down and get a #1 pick next year or a few 2 this year might be best served

My memory of Harrison is of him standing flat footed when the Michigan DB intercepted the ball in front of him in the game a couple of months ago.

When does legal tampering begin?

It's March 11-13th.

I don't love the name legal tampering, though. There has to be a better way to describe it and if the NFL was paying me
I would have been glad to help them make it sound less stupid. I find it amazing that a hundred bazillion dollar entity
is using that phrase.

Legal tampering. It sounds like "felony amnesia" or "consensual assault and battery".

How about Pre-agency?

Yes. Chase and Olave didn't have future NFL corners on them every week, and double-teamed most of the time, and the kid still got open. There's no Justin Jefferson or Garrett Wilson/JSN on the other side of this kid either.

I mean, you don't have to take my word for it - Take Chris Olave's.

You...watched the playoffs this year, right?

i'd welcome him.
but not sure of the chance of it happening.
Ultimately it's up to Mayfield. Depends what Tampa offers him, if it comes in low, it's a FA frenzy, and we'll see if Kraft will open up the purse for him.

In Joel Klatt’s mock draft he has the following QBs in first round.

Williams, Maye and Daniel’s go 1,2,3 Chicago, Washington, NE respectively.

Denver grabs Nix at 12. Nix plays quickly compared to the slow Russel Wilson. Payton and Wilson were a bad match up from the beginning.

Seattle takes JJ McCarthy at 16. The new head coach is a Harbaugh type wanting a ball control offense just like Michigan.

Miami takes Penix at 21 because why would you sign a player (Tua) that’s been concussed a lot to a massive contract.

Personally would think a lot more teams are in the QB market, Giants, Falcons, Raiders,,,
