The Patriots' 2024 Off Season Thread

You all can complain all you want, but the big problem is Elliot Wolfe. He's the de facto GM and has the authority. Kraft said before the season started, that the front office would be reviewed after the draft and necessary changes would be made. Elliot Wolfe is trying like hell to keep his job and not doing it. As I type, the Patriots have roughly $55M of cap space nd Wolfe is trying to convince Kraft to flip as much as possible to 2025. Why??
Because he's not his father Ron Wolfe and figures if he doesn't spend any more money and can finagle around in the draft, he'll come out the official GM title.

Where does that leave the Patriots? Sucking hind tit. He's terrified that he'll sign a bunch of guys like Belichick did in 2022 and they'll suck equally. That says that he hasn't done any homework on free agents. He's completely focused on keeping the job, hence he's not going to stick his neck out and expose it to an axe.

The Patriots had three major needs coming into the new season. 1. Quarterback. 2. Left Tackle. 3. Wide Receiver.

Not a single position has been addressed. Right now, he signed a 31 year old backup QB. He signed two RT. He's signed zero WR. Players are signing everywhere but NE because he's not trying to sign anyone. I didn't want Ridley once he said he was waiting until Wednesday to make sure Jacksonville would get a draft pick or re-sign him. He did not want to go NE because of the 5% income tax and the additional 4% millionaire's tax. NE would have had to offer him $102M to match the $92M he got from Tennessee or $24M a year. He's not a premier WR, just the best available free agent WR in 2024.

Right now he could make a splash with WR Mike Williams, Tyler Boyd, Odell Beckham or Mike Thomas. He could sign LT Donovan Smith or even Trent Brown. Hell, I'd take Boyd, Beckham and Trent Brown and before I closed the checkbook, I'd sign CB Stephon Gilmore and take a wild shot at Jadevon Clowney. Put a team out on the field that could compete and draft a QB, WR and LT to learn from the vets.

Good thing you’re not the GM

fyp
If Kraft won't open the checkbook how can Wolf sign any player who will upgrade what we have. Kraft has the authority; Wolf is working with 1 hand tied behind his back.

For the past 2 seasons all we heard that BB the GM was the problem. Now it's Wolfe. Or is it Ebenezer Kraft?
The truth is that we are being punished for 20 years of greatness. Maybe we should stop fighting and just accept the punishment. That way it will go away sooner.
Just a thought.

Kraft is so cheap he wouldn't even pay for a high class hooker, he went to Madam Wong in the Flordia sticks for a hand job ffs.
That's right. Instead of spending $100 to have someone brought to his plane or hotel room, he went to massage parlor in a strip mall for a $10 handy j. I wonder if he had a coupon. :coffee:

I'm totally lost. I have no idea what the fuck this team is doing.
I know exactly what they are doing. What they needed to do last year, and now a year behind. Hell it is something that should have happened in '20. This is a 2 year suckathon, get the QB this year or next year. Upgrade the other major pieces as needed ie WR, TE, Tackle etc. I was wrong on the divisional round prediction. They aren't taking the quick fix, they are taking the long term plan.

Frustrating, sure but this past season will look like a fairy tale compared to what's coming and the schedule they have to run through. I was actually of the belief that they could be in the divisional round this season but now...thats out of the question. Best case? Bengals situation.
