So you would have liked Tom to have more of a coaching role last season? And what would Tom the coach have been able to achieve exactly with the poor offensive roster?
I think this is getting away from what the actual case was in my opinion. I think Bill and Brady were very much involved with the offense, and I am sure Belichick listened to Brady's view point on the offense, and the gameplan, etc etc. I am also sure Brady had a lot of input to the offense considering he was here 19 years. Now is that coaching? Probably not really, I assume QB's that are in that realm on other teams have the same. Where this got weird is when Arians said Brady is coaching and he was not allowed to do that in NE. I am not sure what he means by that. What is Brady doing now that he was not able to do in NE? What was this forbidden thing that Bill was steadfast in not letting him do?
I am not sure if Arians is just not used to a QB that that has that much input to the offense, although he did coach Peyton, but I guess I am confused by what he means by coaching or what Brady was not allowed to do.
I mean had he said, man Brady is like another coaching on the field, blah blah blah, then this is not a thing. But saying he is coaching in Tampa and was not allowed to in NE, yeah I guess I dont get that one.
As far as this talent thing. Yeah the pats need more talent on offense, they have needed more talent on offense for a long time. You can only coach up something so much, at some point players have to play. At times, Brady was able to
get more out of lesser talent and that worked out well with no having to spend a lot of money in that area. But again at some point, you can only do so much. It helped a lot over the years that Brady was able to do a bit more with less, and I am sure Bill used that to his advantage by working more toward the defense, etc. Bill has never really been the offensive type of coach that goes crazy on offense like some other coaches too. He was more about getting talent on defense, that is the type of coach he is, and its good, but I think at times he might have ignored the offense a little too much. I said before that some things would have to change after Brady left, and that there was going to have to be more attention paid to the offense than it was before as far as getting good players in there, and that is true. We will see how that goes moving forward.
