Chandler Jones traded to Cardinals

Monty Beisel never came close to the talent level of these guys.
Old vet and unproven risk player

And yeah the talent is different coming out of college but on the pro level?

BTW I think both will work out this year.

Long is this years older player going for a ring

Shea is going to excel in the situations Bill places him.

Not an issue imo. It's about where he plays the majority of his snaps, not what his listed position is.

I don't believe that is the case. If they list him as a LB than that is what he is tagged at regardless of snaps.

The CBA says: "the position [...] at which the Franchise Player participated in the most plays during the prior League Year".

Easley maybe?

I can recall prior to the draft his scouting report showcased his quick reaction to the snap and engaging the OL before they came out of their stance.

That's actually an excellent response, but Easley wasn't really the kind of guy I was thinking about when I made the observation of "Belichick doesn't draft quick-twitch guys".

Easley is definitely a quick-twitch guy if I've ever seen one, but he wasn't really a pass-rush specialist "edge rusher" and that's the sort of players that Bill doesn't seem to want and everybody else loves. .

Easley CAN rush the passer, but he's an all-around penetrating/disruptor.

In retrospect, I wasn't all that clear with my point.

And, honestly, I'm not really sure if my point is valid or not now.

Won't be the last time that happens.

That is interesting as the Pats listed him as a DE and played him there. So Cards have listed him at LB which means they may choose to play him at outside LB more than DE. This will save them some money should they choose to extend him after next season or franchise him.

IIRC, Arizona plays a 3-4, not. 4-3.

A DE in a 4-3 plays the same basic role as an OLB in a 3-4.

So I'm not sure the designation is all about money.

Sure. They may see him as more of a fit at outside LB than at DE. But it will save them money too.

I agree but then think is Shea/Long the new monty Beisel/Brown

Monte Beisel.

Now, there is a great blast from the past. Never before had so many Patriots fans been so fired up for a guy that just flat-out struggled.

I mean....the poor guy just couldn't catch a break. He'd lean to the left and the play went the other way. He'd guess right and they'd go left. He'd blitz and the draw would go right through his hole. We were frustrated with him and he looked just as frustrated.

I felt bad for the guy, but "beiseling" should be a verb around here to describe when somebody annoints a JAG free agent as a bonafide superstar.

YOU SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH

It's funny when other team fans talk like BB expects all of his FA to turn into some superstars and when they are "just" good role players or don't make the team, they lOL. Pretty sure BB expects that kind of ROI could happen to begin with.
