Data-driven decision-making is science and art.
I mean, is your scenario Jefferson and 10 for 3? Because I'd do that 100 times out of 100.
2 1st rnd picks for one? Absolutely.

Theoretically, the price to move up to 3 would be two firsts, right?2 1st rnd picks for one? Absolutely.
I don't think Nix gets out of the first round because so many teams want a new QB. Nevermind the surprise teams potentially making a move for one.Lifers-Son:
How would you folks feel if they went with Bo Nix from Oregon in Round 2 and picked an OT in round 1. Nix is a guy who could work with the same system they will use for Jacoby for an easy transition. Joe Alt, or J.C. Latham, could be good choices.

Not necessarily entirely but that would be a component.I mean, is your scenario Jefferson and 10 for 3? Because I'd do that 100 times out of 100.
Money shouldn't be an issue, even if they pay him exactly what his asking price is.Not necessarily entirely but that would be a component.
I don't see the Patriots being interested in this because they'd then have to pay Jefferson almost $20 mi as a one-year rental (and I don't think they'll extend him for what he perceives as his value).

I wouldn't know.Possible but does he actually grade out as a 1st round player?
Not sold on Jeffersons effectiveness in New England, and honestly anything focusing on a wr before securing a long-term QB seems like a mistake.Money shouldn't be an issue, even if they pay him exactly what his asking price is.

I want Harrison at 3.You have your answer if you think about how much Bill undervalued the WR position. I fear you're letting your personal bias for MHJ alter your thinking here.
I'm not sold on him being as effective in the weather and on grass here. What aren't you sold on?

He'd be 2nd on the team in terms of career receptions, 40 behind Juju, who's played twice as long.

Thus makes no sense, wrs don't change the success of teams the way QBs do.I want Harrison at 3.
Bill would have never done it unless forced which is something I would never have dreamed happening, until now.
Jefferson and 10 for 3? Yup.

I think this is actually a better move than signing one of the big name guys for 40-45 million because there is no doubt we will be
drafting the QB of the future in less than two months and that is where the focus needs to be. Get the right guy and support him
in smart and strategic ways so by the time he is ready to take the reins he is well protected and has a fully functional offense made up
of talented NFL-caliber players.
Well.....we can better accomplish that by paying Jacoby Brissett 8 million, and committing to him for only one year, than if we did
what Atlanta did.
We aren't winning a Super Bowl with him at QB, but common sense tells us that we aren't winning it in 2024 anyways.
So, good move. Jacoby will do a professional job and has already established that he is a team guy who will not get involved
in any sort of QB room shenanigans as we have been led to believe was the case in '23. He is not the most skilled passer of the
football in the league and his judgement isn't always great, but he's a good leader and one of the toughest QBs in the game.
My hopes are that our Offense becomes respectably functional in 2024. That we tunnel out of the sub-basement one spoonful at a time and
try to end up threatening the middle of the pack. That, I am hoping, will have to be the short-term goal until Drake Maye is
ready to lose the training wheels in '25 or so.
Just shoot for .500, baby.
Agree.
Assuming they take a QB at #3, I don't want him starting week 1, or any week, until they get the OL situation resolved.
There are countless QB's taken in the top 5 spots through the years that crashed and burned because their OL's were crap and they got the shiite kicked out of them on a weekly basis.
So I have no problem letting Jacoby start week 1
Lifers-SonIf they don't draft a QB at #3, they're taking Marvin Harrison Jr. It's a deep draft at OT, but Harrison is the best WR by light years.
You could be right, but around 3/4 of 1st round QBs are busts, so a QB with the 3rd pick is no guarantee either. If they go with a QB, I hope he sits, as others have said.Lifers-Son
I don't believe the Harrison hype. I have seen far to many guys hyped from Ohio State that don't turn out in the NFL.
If it's Drake Maye, it sure as fuck isn't. If it's JJ McCarthy, you can be prepared for Dynasty 2.0.FYP.
Our QBs certainly changed our success the last 3 years. JK. It hit me funny the way you worded it.
But, the Pats may not think a QB at pick 3 is a game changer for success. That's why it could make sense.
