Looking at the Patriots - 2019

Yup. They may as well bring Johnny Foxboro to play on the Thursday Night games, because they're running Foxboro High's offense then, and have been for years.
This. As BB said in the locker room after last Sunday's game, "Okay, it's Wednesday night."

Players missed their Monday rest/recovery day, Tuesday implement game plan day, and Wednesday pads day. Whatever plays they run on Thursday are likely old familiar ones.

Yeah, fully agree with Hawg and others. And I said it earlier, I have no real concerns. Would I like if the offense was playing better. Sure, of course! But the defense is that good as are STs that they can carry this offense quite frankly. The D is not just the best in the league, but it's best by a long shot. There is a huge stat gap between the Pats and the 2nd - 5th next best defenses. This D will carry us to the SB and if you want to pick what will deliver a SB win, a stellar defense with OK offense or a basketball scoring offense but poor defense; the D will win it every time.

The offense has had some very unfortunate issues with AB, Wynn, Develin, Watson, Harry, Gronk gone, niggly injuries to Dorsett and Gordon etc.

There's a reason why BB looks so content as he did at the post-game presser on Thursday night. This is the situation he loves with a front 7 who are playing insane and the defensive backfield with some of the best backs in the league playing lights out.

It won't matter who this D plays. Mahomes, Prescott, Rogers, Jackson, Bridgewater, Jimmy G, Brissett, it won't matter.

And with all that said, it wouldn't be a shock if they make a trade for some help at TE, online, or WR. Plus with the guys coming back, the future is bright.

Here's a kinda new take on why Belichick is so content...

Yeah he likes defense and special teams scoring.. but if you win the game when your offense is sputtering and spitting out vanilla beans, it is extra satisfying if ... IF Belichick himself believes he is intentionally holding back the offense as a tactic to remain mysterious to the league. This does increase the psychological advantage of being sneaky or secretive. In theory. Since his belief although more important than any other person's, still needs to be proven on the field. But again we don't see all the practice reps that are potentially very satisfying to him, despite the difficulties in-game. Hmmmm...

The other possibly more simple explanation is his belief that "defense wins championships..." Haha...:thumb::peace:

It's called the Jedi Mind Fuck strategy...

Good thing BB has 11 days to fix things. :coffee:

N'Keal Harry is eligible to return to practice this week (can be activated after week 8). It will be something to watch for during the upcoming week.

He should be fresh and 6 weeks off watching, deciphering, and sitting in all meetings will show his intellect. He SHOULD grasp things by now.

That's more than I would have expected from Bill.

Cheers

I just noticed, the Patriots are in the middle of 3 games, 3 games against teams Bill Belichick has an extremely strong past personal NFL connection to: the Giants, the Jets, and the Cleveland Browns. I know Belichick wants to win against everybody, yet these teams and games, I'm guessing, have special meaning to him.

We've got a week before the next game, hopefully some of the little nagging injuries heal up....Then three games to get through before our bye.....unless something goes drastically wrong we should be in a pretty good position going into week 11 vs the Eagles.

A boost for the blocking.
