He's actually are pretty decent player and could give some depth where we need it. Some people will criticize moving Gilmore for this guy but that's not what this is.
Gilmore is still injured & he was never going to play for us this year. In that sense, Poole would actually be an upgrade and since Jon Jones is dinged up we need good depth.
Poole, with good juice in his legs, would provide that. He also played with the Falcons and played well for them. He'd be a solid CB3 add imo

I'm surprised he's a free agent. He seems like a pretty good corner when I've seen him play.

Pats worked him out earlier this year, but didn't sign him. I actually expect him to be signed with Wino going on IR and the competition coming down to Williams, Bryant and whoever else is out there. They're definitely thin at a position you don't want to be thin at.

He graded out pretty good with the Jets last year before being injured.

Gilmore is off of PUP this week and expected to start practicing soon for Carolina.

Yahoo Sports: Ty Law rips Patriots defense: ‘I’m really upset about what’s going on’.
They did make Texans look great on offense .
The New England Patriots defense had major problems against Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore on Sunday in Week 6. Dallas punted just once in the game, and finished with either a field goal attempt or a touchdown on all its final five drives.

Prescott finished with 445 passing yards, the most ever by a quarterback against a Bill Belichick defense in a single game. Former Patriots cornerback Ty Law is ringing the alarm bells. He’s worried.
I’m really upset about what’s going on,” Law said during an appearance on WEEI, as transcribed by MassLive.com. “Because you don’t let people come in there and walk all over you, throw the ball like that anytime they want to. I mean, that’s shameful.”

New England’s offense had some issues in the closing moments of the game. Most notably, the Patriots managed to generate a missed 51-yard field goal with a 1-point lead and 2:42 left in the game. If New England got a first down, the game was essentially over. Instead, rookie quarterback Mac Jones threw a pick-six, reopening the door to a Dallas win. Still, Law saw more issues on defense than on offense.

“Defense, they have to step up,” he said. “I don’t know what’s going to happen in this offseason. I can tell you right now, if I had a vote, we’d be going (defense in) first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth round (of the NFL draft) — we’re getting all defensive guys and we’re going to get some wide receivers and running back in free agency, because something’s got to give with the defense

If was the weakest link on Sunday, it was cornerback Jalen Mills, who has been CB2 for the entire season. He allowed 5 of 7 targets for 75 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner. He seemed likely to move into a backup role when Stephon Gilmore came back from PUP list, but the Patriots traded their star cornerback to the Carolina Panthers. It seems Mills will be a starter for the foreseeable future.

“You have to have somebody that can cover,” Law said. “I mean, we were looking for Jackson to step up. He was playing pretty good football. But I didn’t want to pass him the mantle just yet when we’re talking about him compared to Stephon Gilmore. But you have to have guys in the back that can step up and make plays.”

Already stated a few times that Mills is GARBAGE...

The secondary is going to struggle the rest of the season. Would be good if Bill can figure out a way to scheme some type of consistent pass rush.

Yes, afterall you know a lot more than the greatest coach in NFL history. Do you ever look at what you post?

I am not making excuses here, but he's out there on a bad hammy. He was great vs TB and good vs Houston. Kind of a dumb take. This is going to be brutal listening to former Pats players armchair the analysis so they can feel important.

The pass D certainly could have played better, but when you have a pick 6 and a blocked punt for an easy TD, that has nothing to do with the defense. The D had 2 turnovers and a sweet goal line stand. That's not why they lost. It's because of the same problems of a turnover at a bad time and a STs gaffe.

Do people realize if the offense was more consistent in an offensive league, your defense benefits from that? The offense needs to be consistent.

If they are concerned about Mills being able to cover in man, move Jones to the perimeter or promote Myles Bryant to the nickel spot.

I wasn't a fan of the Mills signing, but I expect him to be fine. He's looked good in spurts, and it isn't like we haven't seen a CB come in and start slow and awkward in this system before. Gilmore comes to mind. I was cringing and angry about that signing for a solid half season.

Then he turned out to be pretty good for a couple years...
