By design, Mac has been pushing his limits to learn what he can and can't do. I agree with this plan up until it undermines wins and losses. Unfortunately, his receivers aren't living up to their end of the bargain. Maybe I should say Parker in particular isn't living up to his end. And Mac has been impatient for success. Mac will learn and if he doesn't then he'll be reeled in with plays that call for 5-15 yd routes only. Eventually he'll learn what he can and can't do and the team will flourish. He's a smart kid. At the same time the coaching has to evolve. They're all learning together. The raw play we're seeing now is temporary. The players and coaches who don't learn will be purged during the process. Improvement is inevitable; BB will make sure of that.

Bourne's ranking doesn't necessarily mean he's one of the top three wideouts in the NFL. The RTMs are descriptive and not predictive, and Open Score -- his worst attribute -- is far more stable than the other two categories. Plus, Catch Score and YAC Score are reliant on openness; if a receiver isn't open, he'll have fewer opportunities to make catches and accrue YAC. While Bourne has been an extremely efficient (and underrated), he likely isn't quite that strong predictively.
For what it is worth, Bourne's 3.4 yards per route run this season ranks fourth among receivers and tight ends who have run at least 30 routes, behind Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins), Tyreek Hill (Dolphins) and A.J. Brown (Eagles). He has just seven catches for 115 yards, but perhaps he should play more snaps for the Patriots.

1. Bourne is elite. Best catch score. Play Bourne over 40 snaps a game, Fatt Matt.
2. Did people also notice Jacobi Meyers is TOP3 among all NFL wide receivers in getting open.
4. Parker continues to have a bad catch rate and it’s also clear this dummy doesn’t know the playbook or the audibles. 4 of 5 of Mac’s INTs are to this dummy WR. The next time Parker throws both hands up presnap that he doesn’t know the play (happens OFTEN), call timeout and bench this idiot.
People obsessed with draft status need to stop dissing Meyers as a 4th WR. Meyers has consistently beat starting NFL corners for 3 years in a row now. Meyers is Troy Brown-like. Meyers and Bourne are this team’s best receivers plus Agholor. Don’t mess with the snap counts and get cute. Parker and Humphries should collectively get less than 20 snaps a game. Play Meyers and Agholor outside and Bourne should own the slot all season long, unless it’s to swap occasionally with Meyers

Bourne isn't elite. The most important thing is open score, and his was average. He is definitely dangerous and underplayed, though.
Yeah, I noticed. And tied for first since 2017. I do wonder how that is calc'd, though. Presumably they're not accounting for the quality of the CB defending? Because Meyers is great at being Meyers, but part of "being Meyers" involves typically drawing the #2 or 3 CB defending him. He's rarely, if ever, a defense's top priority. But I love the kid, he does his job beautifully.
Parker is useful, but he shouldn't be the #1 option, and he shouldn't dominate playing time like this at all, and certainly not until everyone is confident that he knows the offense backwards and forwards.
Agholor will be more useful if he plays in the slot some. Humphries is an interesting question. I need to look back at the last couple of games where he played a lot. My guess is that the idea with playing him is to try to dictate defensive personnel. That is, playing him as a 3rd WR tends to push a 5th DB onto the field, which is useful if you're running the ball.
But they're using him more like a TE, just split out from the formation. He does a nice job with the wham blocks. I wonder how long defenses will continue to go to nickel with him out there, rather than just treat him like a TE - it isn't as if he has the speed to make him uncoverable by a LB, certainly not a safety. But he does have good route running skills.

I assume this is going to be like KC a couple of years ago, where if he's fucking horrible, then you'll see Zappe.
That game still pisses me off. Patriots win if Hoyer is just regular below-average.
Yeah it was a frustrating game because the defense balled out, but Hoyer dinked and dunked his way to the end zone only to get sacked, and lost a FG in the process.

Hoyer isn’t a good QB. He’s a veteran whose value was knowing the organization, playbook, and institutional etiquette for Mac. I don’t think just being around a long time magically makes a guy a decent backup QB. Hoyer is extremely limited across the board physically, so the team should just delete every playbook throw over 10 yards, and plan to run the ball 35 times with a ton of screen passes or short HB/TE throws.

It is terrible roster management to have Hoyer as the back up especially when you see a guy like Cooper in Dallas. Bill has some crazy penchant for hanging on to vets that is mind boggling at the most important position.
Have you even watched the games? Cooper Rush is a pretty limited QB that has been playing well because he's done what he's supposed to do -- not turn the ball over, and make the safe reads. Hoyer is capable of doing so.

Forget it....Dallas is doing well because they have a kick-ass defense lead by a potential great in Micah Parsons, who even LT is now bigging up. And LT typically praises very few pass rushers.
