Looking at the Patriots 2024

And then you realize the Pats' D lost Bill and Steve who was the play caller.
Change does not automatically equal a decline in performance or results.

But "more likely than not".
Not at all. if you look at changes made throughout the NFL in any given season, it’s more like 50-50.

Reportedly Bourne had a party after signing his contract and there was a chorus of “QB1” for Zappe.

Lazar thinks they should dump Zappe and have a clean slate in the QB room.

Lazar may have a valid opinion if your looking for a totally clean slate.Zappe QB 1 , I don't think so .There is nothing to indicate that he is any better than Jones. The only two things Bailey has got going for him at the moment are that he is here , and we need someone to warm the bench.Keep him , trade him , make him the new water boy , it's all irrelevant. The only issue at hand is what Bisset and our draft boy do.

Oh , and yes , I am firmly sold that the Pat's are all in on drafting a QB at 3.For better or worse , this is clearly the vibe.If thhey get Daniels , the fun starts. If Daniels can live up to the hype , learn from Bisset and the coaches don't frig him up too badly , then we may have a corner stone. We shall see.

If it’s Daniels then park his skinny ass on the bench to learn and put on some weight

keep hearing that commanders OC kingsbury likes Daniels so it may be Maye at #3

I hope so.

I think Maye will be snatched up by then , that's why Daniels becomes the next logical choice. But none of these guys come are a sure thing , they are just a step above Mac in ability.

After the Mac Jones experiment I'm good with whatever QB they bring along as long as he's given proper time to get ready, which is why it would make sense to have Brisset as a bridge QB.

Personally I like Daniels' dual threat ability, but Maye's throwing ability does stand out. Either of them will need to sit behind a vet and learn the ropes—patience will be a big potential factor.

Hopefully with their Green Bay connection they have the same philosophy in bringing a young QB up by having him sit until he's ready. It seems to have worked out really well for Love and the Pack.

Yes. GB is the textbook on how to develop a young Qb.

Lazar has this weird hatred of Zappe for some reason. On PU last week he started ranting about Zappe because Zappe dared to put out an IG video of him working out and throwing to Bourne??

I mean, what's the problem? He thought it was performative etc etc and went on a rant about him.

Nobody thinks Zappe is the answer, but if he's willing to put the work in and fight for a spot, let him fight. There's nothing wrong with his attitude, that's for sure. He'll never be QB1; he'll be a third-stringer at best. Jacoby coming in will be great for him IMHO. I'm always impressed at how highly Jacoby is always rated as a teammate and QB mentor,

It would be great if the Patriots would just go ahead and make up some ground here before the OTAs begin.

It would be interesting to see what those numbers look like if the QB position was removed. All the teams at the top of the list have big money invested in the QB position.

Sigh……. I know I’m always being contrarian on this issue but……. All of the teams in the top 15 except maybe the saints and the falcons have paid out pretty big contracts to Quarterbacks. I guess the 49ers as well. That accounts for a ton of money. It’s been a long time since the Pats have had a huge contract to a QB on the books.
Even with the 49ers and Saints they had a lot of talent on offense worth giving premium money too.
How did the falcons end up at 8? They gave nobody worth paying except guys still on rookie deals.
I keep coming back to this point. You have draft guys worth giving second contracts too. The patriots have not done that. Ok I’ll give you Thuney. Outside of him NE has not been losing talent in FA for lack of money. You may be able to say Chandler Jones, but I think they wanted him gone after he wandered into that police station high on spice right before that playoff game.
A lot of teams at the bottom of that list have not had to pay a QB in awhile. Premium players don’t make it to FA. They get second contracts from the teams that draft them.

The Falcons recently signed Kirk Cousins 4 yr/$180M, and WR Darnell Mooney 3 yr/$39M for 2024.

I can't help but wonder how much Kraft's penny pinching contributed to not re-signing players, Thuney and Shaq Mason being examples. Sure, there were other factors such as poor drafting and not targeting WRs as important offensive weapons the way the rest of the NFL has for years. When WRs were targeted, the Pats chose badly. Harry over Deebo Samuel
and AJ Brown was laughable. Dobson over Keenan Allen and at least 5 others. Bill's greatest downfall as a GM, imo, was not paying more personal attention to the WR position in the draft.
Bill never learned to value them very much.

Bethel Johnson over Anquan Boldin.
Chad Jackson over Greg Jennings.
Brandon Tate over Mike Wallace.
