Teh official Taltos "circle rep thread" #2

Today is the day, been waiting for this moment for a long time and it was a long time coming. Who knows when it will happen again.

Yep, I’m talking about Purdue playing for the ncaa championship. Boiler up.

Unless you are living under a rock, you know the moon mooned the sun today around 3pm in the midwest. It was weird to go outside at 3pm and it be night.

Wingsday in Decorah :wuv:

From Raptor Resource Project:

April 6, 2024: Mom feet make the best pillows! DN17 rests after a hard day of sleeping and eating!

IMG_4352.jpeg

April 6, 2024: I'm a sucker for clown clompers, earholes, and thermal down.

IMG_4353.jpeg

April 6, 2024: Good morning! The beak shape makes me think that this is DN18, but I'm honestly not sure.

IMG_4354.jpeg

April 6, 2024: DN18 photobombs DN17!

IMG_4355.jpeg

April 6, 2024: DNF feeds DN17 (sitting) and DN18. The two hatched close together and are at very similar stages
of development, so I sometimes have a very hard time telling them apart! They turned 12 and 13 days old today.

IMG_4356.jpeg

April 6, 2024: DN18 has a very bloody face following a feeding. Someone on chat compared it to lipstick.
The eaglets' faces got redder as they ate, and of course they have no napkins but cornhusks, grass, and one another!

Wings Day, woohoo!

So bias but don't care, birds are just amazing animals. The rescued flock I have at home show me more and more they are more than just an animal that flies. They educate me daily.

Freestyle Friday in Decorah :wuv:

From Raptor Resource Project:

April 5, 2024: Day 11 and 12. That might be the biggest cropzilla I've ever seen!
The eaglets are rapidly gaining weight, growing feet and beaks, and filling out.
They've mastered sitting up and their talons - look at DN17 on the right - are
beginning to turn black.

Eaglets hatch with clear talons. As they grow, their talons darken. Melanin not
only produces colors ranging from dark black to reddish brown and pale yellow,
it also makes talons (and feathers) stronger, stiffer, and more resistant to breaking and wear.

April 4, 2024: A closer look. A remnant of the egg tooth is still visible on DN17's beak. At least I
think it is DN17 based on beak shape and eye. These two can be hard to tell apart!

IMG_4369.jpeg

April 5, 2024: Compare beak shape with yesterday and admire those earholes - squeeee! - while you still can!

IMG_4371.jpeg

April 6, 2024: Day 12 and 13. Morning brings bigger, grayer eaglets! Their necks are like periscopes,
their tiny flip flappers suddenly look like wings, and they are wingercizing and warbling more. Wings,
wings, what marvelous things! Happy growing!
