Oddly coincidental, I actually saw a Ground Round on the way to my short vacation at Lame George two summers ago. I think it was in Rutland, VT.I thought you were referring to Howard Johnsons because I'd read that the last one in the US closed in Lake George last year.
HOJO's no more: the last Howard Johnson's Restaurant SOLD
The last standing Howard Johnson'scbs6albany.com
Also, Ground Rounds are long gone and Fuddruckers (liked putting on my own lettuce/tomatoes, onions, etc.)
And, although the Seaport district in Boston is cool, I miss the seafood restaurants that used to be there - Pier 4, Jimmy's Harborside, the No Name.
And WBCN and WAAF and relevant rock stations that are broadcast on actual radio.
Nice to be missed, HS.
Unfortunately, If nothing changes I'll probably be done here soon. The ability to read more than a couple paragraphs comes and goes these days, and the loss is accelerating. When I can read, I usually need to point at something a little more mission critical.
Never assume what you rely on today will be there tomorrow, y'all. Hence the change of handle. So maybe my answer to the OP should be "my brain."
They LOVE old people. Well, many of them. They still repeat the stories about my uncle and his brothers among themselves. My wife's grandmother is one of their favorite people on earth. And if RG and I managed to appear at your door for A Boomer's Life show and tell, what do you think
the attention level of the audience would be?
My guess would be somewhere between polite indifference (forced) and a yawning festival.

My 15 year old said to me a couple days ago: "My whole generation is an embarrassment. I'm going upstairs to invent a time machine so I can take a few cool inventions and go back to...sometime between the late 70s and the early 90s. I'll figure it out." I told him to please clean up some of the litter.
You know how I know when a kid is all right? When they don't start scrolling their phones 10 seconds after you start talking to them.
I actually know some cool young folks who get it, many of whom are the Sons and Daughters of close friends and relatives. They are
the ones that give me hope that maybe things will be just fine and I'm just being crotchety. After all, the Beatles didn't fuck us all up
as my parents once theorized.
Sounds like you have your kids on the right track, which I strongly suspected was the case.
I think it's really great that someday soon all the rich people will be able to have their kids' DNA customized so that they'll all
be perfect. Maybe those exceptional kids will make it incredibly uncool to look at a cellphone and start the Great Analog Revolution
and we can all get back to making S'mores and telling ghost stories.
Best of luck to you, Sir in your health struggles. Your presence here has always been a treat and if that has to end then many of us will
be very sad. You have always been one of the very best and brightest.
There are A&W's here in Michigan.Oddly coincidental, I actually saw a Ground Round on the way to my short vacation at Lame George two summers ago. I think it was in Rutland, VT.
Looking at Google, it’s now permanently closed, but it wasn’t two years ago. I was shocked!
But yeah, the A&W in Lake George is still going strong! Had a phenomenal root beer float there.
The squiggly lines on the porn channels...you could see ladies bush sometimes for a few minutes, then the screen turned to LSD madness.
Playboy
Edit: On the way home from hockey with my son and J. Geils Band comes on the radio. Angel is the Centerfold. Take a quick guess what he asked me.
I spent every summer in Oscoda on Lake Huron. My mother grew up in Saginaw and Oscoda. Loved hitting the A&W’s in MI.There are A&W's here in Michigan.
@THAT Charlie Gordon
thank goodness you are back! my old ass couldn't remember the "that" preceeding your new name and i was trying to tag you and was worried you changed again when i typed "charlie" and got no suggested completing words. i finally figured it out last night by scrolling through topics looking for your name. i checked your profile to make sure. and now i don't remember what i wanted to tag you on.

During my lengthy stay in Nam I actually made four round trips to/from states.I used to smoke way back in the day. I remember being on a flight between Oahu and Maui and there was
hardly anybody on the plane (another thing that doesn't exist) and the attractive flight attendant offered me a free
cocktail if she could bum a smoke. We just sat there puffing away like it was no big thing, because at that
time it wasn't.
It seems like a parallel universe. All of it. Flying is like being on a cattle car now by comparison.
Add enjoyable flights to the list if somebody already didn't.
Awesome area. My son and I were up there playing golf this spring.I spent every summer in Oscoda on Lake Huron. My mother grew up in Saginaw and Oscoda. Loved hitting the A&W’s in MI.
