Love me some Mayo
Considering his contract with the Raiders I think that it was going to be far fetched. Sure, as a player he's one of the best, but what he showed this offseason leaves a lot of doubt that he won't be a locker room cancer.
Did Adaleus Thomas (sp?) not meet this criteria? It's really not an issue about LR cancer, but, rather, the combination of that kind of history along with a big salary means that Bill wouldn't do it.
He's never done it here. Not once.
Yeah, it's frustrating at times to see the Pats do the thing where they ignore ultra-talented players they have a chance to acquire, but nobody has ever been better at understanding what makes a team tick than Bill, so how are we going to get pissed about it? The strength of the wolf is in the pack.
Every single time Brown acted like a jerk, and there were a number of those times (like when he was mugging it up filming a video for instagram where you could hear Tomlin in the background warning his players not to do that stuff) I thought about what we do here and I was glad he was somewhere else.
I love Jon Gruden, but he is making some ridiculous moves out there. That team could go straight through the floorboards the way it's going so far, but lets see how the draft goes.
Is anyone unhappy that AB is not a Patriot right now?
Prefer a pick.
Lower cost. Longer term.
The first dynasty run had 1s across the board on Dline and a kickass secondary.

No?
Why the fuck would you want that kind of batshit crazy on your team? He makes Beckham look sane.
Lower cost and longer term for a draft pick as opposed to a veteran FA, but that first era dynasty started off with Bobby Hamilton, Brandon Mitchell, and Anthony Pleasant. Seymour was the only #1 on the DLine in XXXVI. The rest were old guys BB picked up as Free Agents.Prefer a pick.

As it says in the bible, the race is not always to the swift, nor the contest to the strong, but that's the way to lay your bets.Sometimes reputations turn out to be all wrong, but most of the time you're better off skipping the divas.

He'd be a pretty good counter to my argument, but when we acquired him he wasn't well known and did not have a track record of being a dick as far as I know.
By now we know he actually was a dick, but I think it's fair to say that everybody thought we were getting a solid guy at the time, including Bill. I recall he was handing out "Humble Pie" shirts early on and then things started to go downhill with snowy driveway gate being one of the memorable problems.
I probably annoy people (not saying you) by constantly referring to high character whenever we are talking about acquiring somebody, but I do that because I believe it is a much bigger deal in Foxboro than it is in any other NFL city and yet that tendency is still a somewhat under-appreciated factor in why we win rings.

Randy Moss was never very high character...he did have talent though.
we didn't, you are correct but upon further review Thomas was a Raven, we know all Ravens to be Dicks. He'd be a pretty good counter to my argument, but when we acquired him he wasn't well known and did not have a track record of being a dick as far as I know.
