Let's talk about the weather

Maine is the northern most of the contiguous 48.

Are you sure? Looking at Google Maps, the northerly order of ND, WA etc is 49 degrees north. Maine looks to me to be 47.5 degrees north at the most northerly tip.

I did some research and it looks like you are correct about the upper border of WA at almost 49 degrees being higher than Maine.

Maine's northernmost point is the village of Estcourt Station, slightly above 47 degrees north.

Cape Flattery (48°23′09″N 124°43′37″WCoordinates: 48°23′09″N 124°43′37″W) is the northwesternmost point Washington state.

But the most northern point in the contiguous is in Minnesota.

The Northwest Angle inlet is the northernmost point in the 48 contiguous United States. Located at 49°23'04.1"N 95°9'12.2"W, Northwest Angle is situated on the northern side of the Lake of the Woods County in the State of Minnesota. The Northwest Angle is the only point in the continental United States that is positioned to the north of the 49th parallel which marks a large portion of the US-Canada border. It is bordered by the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba and is separated from the State of Minnesota by the Lake of Woods.

That’s insane MaineMimi. What’s so weird is where I am, is way North of you in latitude. We’re at 53-54 degrees north which is the equivalent of the pin on the map below to put into North America context. So Northern Quebec.

You’d assume we’d be under huge snow for the winter. And yet we rarely get snowfall in the winter all thanks to the Gulf Stream. It’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit right now.

Thanks UT. We have so little to brag about and now you're taking that away.
Well, Maine is the Eastern most state. See if you can prove that wrong.

My experience with Maine was in Portland which I really liked, A quick stop in the summer years ago and seemed a really nice place. Anywhere by the sea is great in my book. I couldn't imagine not living by a coastline.

Being in Aviation, Bangor is a very familiar airport, a key alternate airport for transatlantic flights.

The one thing I actually DO miss about living in New England is when the big storms came through. I'm not talking about the pesky, pain in the ass 5 inch storms that you still have to go to work in and be stuck in traffic. Don't get me wrong, to hell with shoveling snow, but I like to see mother nature do her thing while I'm all safe in the house. I miss walking my dogs while the storms were raging and letting them off the leash so they could run amuck then get home about 45 minutes to an hour later unbundle, make a hot chocolate, pack a bowl and sit by the window and just smoke and watch the snow fall. Course, there is something to be said about going fishing in January here in Florida with maybe a hoodie on and just slaying the redfish.

Born in Biddeford and raised in the Lewiston/Auburn area, graduated from Edward Little High School, not going to mention the year...............lol.
I used to go to this country store in Biddeford Maine. They used to make the best rotisserie chicken and coleslaw. Back in the 70s and early 80s we used to drive 2 1/2 hours from Massachusetts to Maine just to go there and eat lol. We used to buy a couple chickens and sit by the river and pig out. Unfortunately that store is now closed. It used to be I think across the street from the police station.

You just cannot beat a rotisserie chicken.

You guys are very lucky to live in New England. It's definitely one of the beautiful areas of the US. You have it all there, Atlantic coastlines with great seafood, beaches, you have mountains for skiing and trekking, a major city, forests, islands, and clear 4 seasons with the famous vistas in the fall. And of course, the most successful region by a long shot in sports.

Even people who live in Biddeford don't like Biddeford.

Thank the Gulf Stream or you'd all know what winter was like.

12-28 for the weekend. Easier to clean up on a Sunday.

Black fly season is the 6th season.
Oh black fly season is the best. You can be driving down the road and the road either appears that it is moving or you hear crunching sound as you drive. Or my favorite one is we were heading into a town down the street and it just seemed every house was moving. It was the thousands and thousands of flies on the outside of the house shimmering to making it look like it was moving. That messed my young mind up for a few days. LOLOL
