Maine is the northern most of the contiguous 48.
Are you sure? Looking at Google Maps, the northerly order of ND, WA etc is 49 degrees north. Maine looks to me to be 47.5 degrees north at the most northerly tip.

I did some research and it looks like you are correct about the upper border of WA at almost 49 degrees being higher than Maine. Are you sure? Looking at Google Maps, the northerly order of ND, WA etc is 49 degrees north. Maine looks to me to be 47.5 degrees north at the most northerly tip.
Thanks UT. We have so little to brag about and now you're taking that away.I did some research and it looks like you are correct about the upper border of WA at almost 49 degrees being higher than Maine.
Maine's northernmost point is the village of Estcourt Station, slightly above 47 degrees north.
Cape Flattery (48°23′09″N 124°43′37″WCoordinates: 48°23′09″N 124°43′37″W) is the northwesternmost point Washington state.
But the most northern point in the contiguous is in Minnesota.
The Northwest Angle inlet is the northernmost point in the 48 contiguous United States. Located at 49°23'04.1"N 95°9'12.2"W, Northwest Angle is situated on the northern side of the Lake of the Woods County in the State of Minnesota. The Northwest Angle is the only point in the continental United States that is positioned to the north of the 49th parallel which marks a large portion of the US-Canada border. It is bordered by the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba and is separated from the State of Minnesota by the Lake of Woods.
Sorry. I was about to boast about how cold it was here in NH at -16, but then Mimi posted that -38 (but fortunately feels like -30?), putting me to shame. My humiliation got the better of me. I apologize. Thanks UT. We have so little to brag about and now you're taking that away.
I used to go to this country store in Biddeford Maine. They used to make the best rotisserie chicken and coleslaw. Back in the 70s and early 80s we used to drive 2 1/2 hours from Massachusetts to Maine just to go there and eat lol. We used to buy a couple chickens and sit by the river and pig out. Unfortunately that store is now closed. It used to be I think across the street from the police station.Born in Biddeford and raised in the Lewiston/Auburn area, graduated from Edward Little High School, not going to mention the year...............lol.

Even people who live in Biddeford don't like Biddeford.I used to go to this country store in Biddeford Maine. They used to make the best rotisserie chicken and coleslaw. Thank the Gulf Stream or you'd all know what winter was like. That’s insane MaineMimi. What’s so weird is where I am, is way North of you in latitude. We’re at 53-54 degrees north which is the equivalent of the pin on the map below to put into North America context. So Northern Quebec.
You’d assume we’d be under huge snow for the winter. And yet we rarely get snowfall in the winter all thanks to the Gulf Stream. It’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit right now.

Black fly season is the 6th season. You forgot the fifth season - mud season - for us Mainers it's a thing.

Oh god dont remind me, Vermont is pretty bad with black flies as well.Black fly season is the 6th season.
Oh black fly season is the best. You can be driving down the road and the road either appears that it is moving or you hear crunching sound as you drive. Or my favorite one is we were heading into a town down the street and it just seemed every house was moving. It was the thousands and thousands of flies on the outside of the house shimmering to making it look like it was moving. That messed my young mind up for a few days. LOLOLBlack fly season is the 6th season.
