Mayo HC

That's interesting. I see it more as the Kraft's wanting to ensure they had a HC that they feel good about instead of hiring someone cold. From what I have read/heard, Mayo has been the heir apparent going back to last year. I really don't see him as a more hip HC in the mold of BB. I actually see him as quite different given he was a former player and has risen up over the ranks to where he was getting coaching interest the last couple of years and the Kraft's stepped in to ensure they kept him for the transition when they moved on from Bill.

I am not sure how Bill can't be blamed for everything these last 2 years. They were all his decisions, even if there was some collaboration. He chose to bring Patricia back and install a new system when Mac had a terrific rookie season in the previous system. Then he spent the bulk of his FA and draft capital on defense to the detriment of the offense. I mean he truly is the fall guy given the amount of power/purvey he had over everything.

Your ultimatum is interesting. I think you are a bit in fantasy land wanting the ending you want for sentimental reasons - give Bill his flowers - or start over new so emotionally you can make a break. Rarely does business work that way. There were obviously really good structures and processes in place the last 2.5 decades and also some really great minds on the staff and in the FO. There is no reason to throw the baby out with the bath water. You move on from who/what is not working and you keep what is. The bottom line is the Kraft's do/did see Bill as the main issue given the dumpster fire the last 2 seasons AND they also see the move to Mayo as the step in the right direction with a reshuffled FO. They decided having a business man like Jonathan running things was better than a football guy. We will see if they are ultimately right ... we have an awesome off-season in front of us with a chance to improve the roster in spades.

You do know that BB had teams lined up ready to trade for Mac Jones last year and was told by the Krafts not to trade him. They wanted BB to bring in BOB as the OC to see what could be done with him and BB argued against that. BB lost that battle. Not everything is as it seems.

Did he though? Seems to me that the won it, just in a different way.

Well, it turned out just as BB thought it would so that's true. However, he kept his word to go by collaborative thinking. Ultimately, BB lost the trade of Mac by having to give in to the collaborative of RKK/JK. Get used to jonathan's power grabs.

Would you rather Kraft hire one guy again to be the HC/GM again?
No. I would like him to hire a GM. That's the problem. If this has been planned out over the last year - which it seems to be - the plan all along, and stay with me here, was to keep the exact same people picking the groceries that have been doing so for the last 3 seasons, and just blow out the head coach. That's not a plan, that's a PR stunt.

Bill was part of the personnel process ...

Yes, Mazz. Yes he was.

And those same people are still there. Do you get what I'm saying now?

I love the direction the coaching staff seems to be heading at this point - bring in a bunch of young grinders and learn together. Hell, that's what Belichick did in Cleveland. I like the idea, although that didn't translate to a bunch of success on the field right away.

Fair enough, although the Krafts own the team, it's not like they didn't have the power to grab already.

Agreed. Except it was 8 ring Bill Belichick. They wanted BB out of the way to get the level of control/power it seems they needed.

In 2020 the Krafts asked BB if he would run all decisions by the Krafts before executing them. Later that year they asked BB to rely more
on the collaborative efforts of the entire staff. He did just that, including the drafting of Mac Jones. BB played along. The Krafts got what they
wanted. Jonathan got his succession plan for Mayo. BB knew what was happening. He holds grudges but doesn't talk about them. Jonathan didn't have the balls to go above Daddy. Instead he maneuvered BB's loss of total power. Robyn Glaser whispered in Robert's ear. He's a sucker for a pretty girl. Jonathan's "fixer" did for Jonathan what Jonathan didn't have the courage to do.

Passive aggressive little bastard bean counting back stabbing coward.

The collaborative drafts weren't very good but BB shouldered the blame. BB made it easy for Jr. with only 4 wins but, to BB's credit, he never went public with his desire to trade Mac a year earlier. Collaboration prevented that trade. RKK grew old and tired; 4 wins, he weakened and Jonathan got his way. Daddy agreed to fire BB. BB got his hefty exit package and put up a great front at his presser. 2 hours later, RKK became drunk John Henry right before our eyes.

That's how it went down in a nutshell.

Welcome to the family, Jerod.

I have to ask you, if you truly believe everything you just wrote, how can you follow/root for the Pats going forward? Honest question.
I know I would not be able to.

It's called 'rooting for the laundry'. Why would you doubt his voracity? Why would he lie?

It's a question I'm pondering actually. I guess I just want to see how this fiasco turns out. I was a fan of RKK, not his son. I was also a fan long before RKK.
But this mess created by Jonathan with Dad's tacit approval does have me questioning the value in continuing to root for a team owned by the devious little backstabbing bean counter. The laundry is my pull but I have fears as to how this turns out.

You?

@PatsFan09 warned us about what a bitch jonathan was. think pf09 had dealings w/jonathan at pf09's school. jk's kids and sports maybe.

I've been warned about Jonathan for many years by people inside who know. He's not well liked. His personality rubs people the wrong way which is the very reason
RKK put Robyn Glaser in position as Jonathan's buffer when dealing with people.

Thank you. I appreciate your honesty. I know it must be difficult as you are by far the number one fan of this team on this forum IMO.

I think for me, I was pretty upset at the way both Kraft/BB handled Brady and it took time to heal. I think a positive for me in my journey back to following the team was Brady's success in Tampa. It helped to ease his departure and I was happy that I got to continue to watch him play and win.

I think perhaps you have maybe a rosy colored view of how NFL teams are handled. The Kraft's are business men and always have been. It can be easy to miss this when we were winning so much. But they were making mistakes back then too, I assure you but the winning covered it. Whenever there is an ending to any relationship, it's ugly but trust me, it will pass. I am looking forward to this off-season as I do feel we are in such good position with the draft to really make the roster better quickly.

Also once this season is over and the off-season begins and we are talking football instead of drama, you will feel better. I certainly hope so as I would hate to lose you from this forum.

I don't know about all that but I am sticking around for a while. How long is really up to Jonathan.

The NFL is a very good example of how wrong it is to just pass these huge organisations to your kids simply because of an accident of birth. It very rarely works and it naturally upsets people in the organisation because they will never just accept it's not nepotism. Now RKK will say and he stressed at the presser for Mayo that the Kraft businesses are private enterprises. He's correct and he can do whatever the hell he likes with his businesses. But it still doesn't make it the right business decision to just pass on your business to your kids and very often it can be the downfall of what the original founder/owner spent so hard to create.
