Bill and Kraft part ways

I feel like this has less to do with performance and more to do with the Krafts just being tired of dealing with BB. Belichick has definitely earned way more rope than the Krafts gave him. Now we can start off on the long list of failure head coaches.

Yep. It will be a litany of poor results and all of our fans tearing our hair out at Jonathan Kraft's decisions for the next decade at least.

We'll get into a rut, and we'll find it so difficult to get out of it. You can tell us how that feels being a Husker fan, no joke.

I started supporting this team in the early 80s, so I will remember the bad years with occasional glimmers of hope.

This is a sad finality of the dynasty years for me.
RKK gave us so much hope when he bought the franchise so many years ago. He, BB and TB had unprecedented success that will go down in NFL lore as the greatest run ever.

Now many are telling me Robert will hand the reins over to Jonathan at the noon press conference. If that is so, it makes perfect sense for Belichick to leave the Patriots now.
Jonathan is not his father. This will be a different Patriots organization with Jonathan in control. Bank that.

Can Bill still coach? Yes and he should if that's what he wants to do. He's an East Coast guy so he'll favor East Coast teams. Atlanta already said they're interested. Tampa Bay would be
very interesting. My pick for him would be the Bills but I'm almost certain any pkg put together by the Krafts will forbid any AFC E team. Imagine what he could do with Miami! The Raiders are interested. There will be others.

I do want him to continue coaching and beat Shula's record. I'll be a fan wherever he goes. I'd love to see him win a SB, too.

Their presser today is must see TV. What they say may be crucial to how Patriots fans end up viewing this move whether they were for or against BB being fired. It's more complicated than just a mutual agreement to part ways imo. Is this a complete reboot from the top down? If so, I see a minimum of 2 years of losing no matter who comes in as GM and HC.

I have long feared the day RKK would hand the team to his son. There's a reason we've heard little from Jonathan in public over the last 24 years.
Hopefully this is not that day.
Great post.
That is why I want to see the official statement and the press conference. This is not going to be a buying the groceries presser. I suspect it's going to have much more to it than we know now.

Wonder how many season tickets the Krafts think they will sell after they put us in the crapper. Is it too late to pack up and go to Connecticut ?.At least they have casinos!.

If you think Robert has been cheap with cash just wait til you get a load of Jonathan. That noon presser can't come soon enough for me.

I think this is a hugely perilous time for the Krafts regarding their ownership of the Patriots. It's clear they did not want to discuss anything with Bill with regards to giving him another chance with the opportunity to do big things in the coming draft and FA. So they got rid of a coach who brought THEM ridiculous success. The fans are not stupid. They know full well that the lottery win of having Bill and Tim here enabled the Krafts to get away with being miserly and Scrooge-like with regards to paying players. They had a QB willing to take deep pay cuts and an HC who was like Warren Buffett in searching for cut price, damaged players who could be rehabbed and made into winners.

The fans are going to be watching JK like hawks, looking at every decision made and will have a very short fuse regarding how he runs this franchise.

Big difference between Brady shooting his way out of town unethically and what's going on with Bill Belichick right now. I feel unencumbered to root for Bill if he goes somewhere else.

unethically? what are you talking about

He was a free agent, he moved on and had more success elsewhere.. he made the right choice

holy cow lol

This is the worst year to need a new coach, so many vacancies, and NE isn't exactly going to be at the top of alot of lists as a destination.

What happens on the GM side is probably more interesting anyway for the next couple of months.

I am not sure why you guys keep saying this. The fanbase by and large is happy Bill is gone. These last 4 years, the last 2 in particular have been extremely painful. 4-13. Time to go.
