ESPN readying "hit piece" on the Pats dynasty

Brady competed & got better beginning immediately after the Pats drafted JG. TB's production has gone up every year JG was on the roster. That's a credit to TB's competitive nature but age is the great modifier here for Brady. He saw what happened to Montana. He knows BB's history with older players. TB's competitive nature doesn't preclude TB from also feeling the heat from JG. Imo, Florio came to the wrong conclusion

Isnt saying that Brady made himself better not running but thriving from competition?

Yes. I said that too. But Florio doesn't acknowledge that at 40 years old, TB might feel the shadow of Montana creeping up behind him - that TB might feel uncomfortable with JG sitting there ready to take over, esp. knowing BB's history with older players. Who would blame Brady for being concerned?

Tom will talk about it.

I still won't listen. Someone can summarize if he has anything interesting to say.

A mundane rehash. All attempts to put any semblance of credibility to unnamed sources completely rebuffed.

its pretty interesting listening to Minehane tear apart his words

I know he gets a lot of heat around here - and he should: he’s an abrasive tenacious prick most of the time. But in defending the Pats in all the mud slinging nationally there’s nobody local that comes close to a complete knowledge of the situation AND the voracity in calling out stupidity, ignorance, and false opinions.

I agree, Minehane is the best interviewer on the station, he knows how to think quick and get the next question right out. With Callahan they are excellent at this.

it is the other shit he pulls that bugs me, I swear to god IF I grew up with him I would have beat his ass at least twice a week.

From King today MMQB - Bullet one really caught my eye. The Pats are pissed.

My takeaways from the kerfuffle over the ESPN Patriots’ expose about Tom Brady guru Alex Guerrero, and how the Jimmy Garoppolo trade went down, and whether this is the last year of the Kraft/Belichick/Brady team after 18 years together:

• The Patriots haven’t been as angry about anything since the Tom Brady deflated footballs scandal. Apoplectic might be a better word.

• I have never heard Robert Kraft more strident about anything—and that includes Spygate and Deflategate—than he was on the phone with me about the accusation that he mandated that Garoppolo be traded in a meeting with Belichick before the October trade deadline. As I wrote Saturday, Kraft said such an in-season meeting never happened. Garoppolo was dealt to San Francisco for a second-round pick on Oct. 30. Kraft’s voice rose, his ire clear sentence after sentence, as he insisted he did not tell Belichick to make the trade. I have known Kraft since soon after he bought the team in 1994, and the one thing that sets him off is someone questioning his word. That’s why this set him off.

• Bill Belichick drawing a line in the sand, as both the Boston Globe and ESPN reported, about Guerrero has actually been a good thing for the organization. Before, there was a hazy line about Guerrero’s role with the team inside the building and on the sidelines. I can’t think of any coaches who would then restrict the access of the man who is closest to a five-time Super Bowl quarterback and possibly the best quarterback in history. But Belichick did. Now players other than Brady can be treated by Guerrero, but only independently, at the facility adjacent to Gillette Stadium that Guerrero operates.

I am psyched to hear good things about Minnehane. I think the guy is smart, quick, and great on the radio.

I hope K&C posts the interview on weei.com, because I missed it

"I will absolutely be coaching the Patriots in 2018." - Belichick in this morning's presser. Said he hasn't read the article and there is a lot of baseless speculation, paraphrasing.

he coaches this week and he is not lying. That doesn't mean he will be coaching in the 2018 NFL Season.

On second thought maybe his IS leaving. I'm seeing stories of Bill in Dallas, in New York, down here in Tampa too... There has GOT to be some legs to these stories otherwise they would not exist. I'm hearing he's beyond pissed that he only gets 7.5 million a year and Chuckie is going to get 10

Well this fairly clear, BB basically shits all over the ESPN report.

Between Tom, Kraft and BB, they have basically torn apart the reporting on this. The ESPN report and the myriad of idiots like Cowherd, Bayless, Sharpe, Rex Ryan, King etc etc. And what's annoying is they will never stand up and admit, "oh....I got that badly wrong, my apologies, I should not have just accepted nameless sources, I should have done my homework properly and researched this". They'll shrug their shoulders and move on.

But as has been said, they've played into the teams hands by gift wrapping a rallying point for the team. This team is mad.....and Brady will now make them pay.

Asked if he was as upset about the reported meeting as ESPN indicated, Belichick was dismissive.

"We've been through this before," he said, "and I know you want to report on things that are inaccurate and unattributable and I’m not really interested in responding to all of those random and, I would say in a lot of cases, baseless comments."

As far as Brady is concerned, Belichick explained that his quarterback's preparations for the Titans will begin with the rest of his teammates on Monday. To that end, he's expecting more of the same.

"Tom always prepares well," Belichick said. "He’s one of the hardest working players on the team. He’s had a long history of that. He’s very diligent in his preparation."

Bill makes more than $10,000,000.00 per year

The full quote by BB was:

Bill Belichick on if he was "furious and demoralized" after Jimmy Garoppolo trade: "First of all, I don't really know what you're talking about; I haven't read the article. I don't know what that refers to. Look, Mike, I know we're been through this before. I know you want to report on things that are inaccurate and un-attributable. I'm not really interested in responding to all those random, and I would say in a lot of cases, baseless comments."

Poor Reiss getting the wrath of BB even though he made it clear he had nothing to do with that sham of an article.
