Wheel route to Marshawn Lynch in the Super Bowl.
Owen Daniels TWICE the next year in the AFCCG.

Why? Is he playing Special Teams?

Jerod Mayo thinks he can turn him around and get him focused,

You have to admit, it's a ballsy move by Mayo at the start of his coaching career. He either sinks or swims with this one decision.

Vet minimum or small bonus with little cap hit if cut. Shuttle to the airport on speed dial if he doesn't work out.

Why not? There's no denying his athletic ability. Hopefully a little bit of humbling did him good and he'll realize this is probably his best last chance and fall in line.

It’s done

Have to say, I always thought this might happen one day. I remember BB raving about a JC performance when I think he got sacks, an intercept and some other achievement in one game and BB was joking with him on the sideline. i think BB always liked him and especially his talent.

he was undisciplined of course hence the departure, But I suspect BB is deferring to Mayo here who could keep him focused. It's an intriguing development I have to say and could go either way.

If Hightower is happy, I'm happy.

I like it. He's still young, probably cheap, and with Mayo as his coach... could be a steal.

Surprising to me, but I’m all for more LB depth.

No terms on the deal yet

I mean, it's hard to deny his athleticism and the potential we all saw in him early on. But he definitely didn't fit "the Patriot Way" on the field.

Let's hope he's matured a bit and wants to be coached this time around. Could end up being a great signing. If not, I doubt they're committing much to him. So why not?

Cleveland released him.

My only guess?

Well, I guess they’re gonna need to cut somebody.

As Tommy pointed out, Beast Mode wheel routes and Owen Fvcking Daniels haunt my memories. Fvck him and his freelancing.

There's a vast difference between an every-down expensive player who likes to freelance and screw up plays (which is what he was) and a probably relatively cheap spot player who can be put in the game in situations where his freelancing might actually be useful (which is what he'll probably be). Belichick will put the hopefully humbled, talented, and still relatively young player in situations where he can succeed and help the team at the same time.

And, if not, I'm sure they're paying little enough that they will buy him a bus ticket to Logan at any moment. Hell, he may not even make it through camp if he doesn't show he's a smarter player.

I liked cutting him then. I like signing him now.

:toast:

I really like the move.
