I don’t quite agree.
He’s fragile. And as a running QB with more and more injuries every year, he is one or two hits away from losing his main talent.
And taking him means losing two 1st rounders, guys who will improve (hopefully) our O-line and secondary (or front seven).
He will then cost at least $40mil a year, eating up a big part of your cap.
So total all of that up, and it’s a “Are you friggin’ kidding me?” type of response that’s warranted.
He’s great when he’s actually on the field, but the entire calculation is a big loss for the Patriots.
I disagree. it would be a big win for the Patriots in an undeniably QB-driven league.
We can all disagree on this, it's fine. Some have faith that mac can somehow become a top-tier QB and others don't.

If BB wants to go that route, just trade up for Richardson. Yes, he isn't proven, but, he will be on his rookie contract, he has less wear and tear than marblemouf, and, BO'B can teach him right.

A straight swap of Mac for LJ would make the Patriots' offense more explosive and dangerous, if not more reliable. But it's not a straight swap, it's LJ for Mac, 2 first rounders, and a difference in average cap hit of $10+/year. And that's totally ignoring the impact of the guaranteed money and the difference in injury risk/availability.

I know I'm in the minority here but I hope this happens. If you would have asked me two years ago I would have said hell no but this team needs a spark. I also wouldn't be sad to see Mac Jones elsewhere.

I think what we have here is a group of sportswriters who are jockeying for position to bring down the evil Belichick, who
doesn't give them snappy quotes. They're zeroing in on the doubts of Pats fans who are still stunned by the shitshow passing
game we watched last year and they are desperately pimping a hollow bombshell story where none really exists.

the balls to fire Bill. Anybody knows he's not that stupid.
Me and Bill both know that the Pats would be a better team in 2023 with Lamar Jackson, but it has never been about the short-term,
or P.R. or silencing the critics, because we both know that if Jackson stumbled or got injured they'd salivate to have a chance to blame him for making
the same move they all insist is a must. They'd much rather have a stiff HC who would give them material than deal with an Iguana
who happens to be the GOAT. The media almost all HATE him, because he's smarter than the bunch of them put together and he just
laughs in their faces.
The best move for us is to stay the course, make the most of our resources, make smart decisions and then start to win games.

He wants his contract guaranteed. His main talent is running hard. He gets hurt in the first or second year and whoever signs him is out $40+ mil a year dead money for the remainder of the contract. That's nuts IMO.
Besides, if he's so good, why aren't the Ravens better? In the last two years the Ravens lost a wild card came one year and failed to make the playoffs the other. That's exactly what the Pats have done with a rookie QB one year and a shit-show offense the other.

Mac will never be a top ten QB.
Lamar is also just a flash. He’s what 26? He Will be washed after 28, and can’t throw. Definitely will suck at throwing once he loses a step.
At least keeping Mac doesn’t cost picks. This Lamar talk is insane.
I don't understand why Kraft would make share any of this. And he's full of it as this is not the type of move that any GM could make without owner approval. It would never be "just" Bill's decision.

The offense would be exciting under Lamar. I would be fine with it in the short term. I very much doubt Lamar is going to get the money he is seeking from any team so Bill may like the idea of getting a former league MVP on a bit of a discount.

Forget about Lamar coming to the Patriots. Mac Jones is the quarterback this season. Lamar Jackson as been a fine quarterback for the Ravens, a great runner, and a good passer. Whoever he plays for this season will improve. If he joins the Jets, the Patriots can't beat them twice in 2023, and will have a tough time beating them at all. I don't think the Patriots will sign a black quarterback for a while. I don't think that would work with Bob Kraft and Bill Belichick. Lamar, when healthy, would be an exciting player for the Patriots. Maybe ij 3-4 seasons, he'd have a chance to join the Patriots. We'll see. He's obviously much better than Mac Jones.

Lamar has lost almost $40M already by not signing last year. He thinks he can recoup that money with his next contract. He won't settle for less than the Ravens already offered him, 3y/$133M, which he refused a year ago.
Besides, cap space is getting too tight for NFL teams for Lamar's asking price without a huge chunk up front as a signing bonus which will have to be paid in cap space eventually.
