J.J. Watt wearing a cast on left hand, sitting out practice
Posted by Darin Gantt on December 10, 2015, 1:44 PM EST

J.J. Watt may be mortal, after all.

The Texans defensive end was held out of practice Thursday, and had a cast on his left hand, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

There’s no indication Watt is in any danger of missing the game against the Patriots Sunday night, but it continues a collection of recent practice days off for the NFL’s sack leader (13.5).

He missed two days of practice last week, and was on the injury report as having a back injury.

The Bills did a good job of limiting him last week, however, so it’s unclear if the collection of injuries is enough to slow Watt down from this year’s prodigious pace.

UPDATE 1:57 p.m. ET: Watt told reporters after practice that he broke his hand in practice yesterday, but was going to play through it.

Did he break it turning over a monster truck tire like in Hard Knocks?

Cuz that would be awesome!

It would! I wonder if he's getting a random drug screening tomorrow.

Oh, wait....he doesn't play for the Patriots.

===============================

Watt's hand will limit him to some degree as he tries to grab jerseys. It should be killing him by halftime. Groin injury, too? The Bills didn't seem to have much trouble with him. Just sayin...

Having Hightower back would be huge. Gronk will sit out I think but at the same time we need him. Papa Gronk talks to Schefter these days.

I wouldn't expect a healthy JJ Watt to give all that much trouble. Belichick and Matty have him pretty well figured out, it seems.

Gronk will be out until the playoffs, and much like 2013, will fully participate in practice, "look great", and just not play.

Finally, give the Bills a little credit - that's sort of a collection of flotsam there, and they turned it into a pretty damned good offensive line. It's not their fault Tyrod Taylor forgets what he's supposed to do when his first receiver is covered. :coffee:

Unless Vollmer is moving back to the right and Solder is walking through the door, it isn't going to matter too much how much BB and Matt have him figured out.
