My 16 y/o Daughter has been sick for the last week , unexplained bouts of fever and vomiting for 6 days . After many test were done a Cat Scan revealed that her Gull Bladder is not fuctioning. They are going to remove it. Many say this is an easy thing to do and lots of people have it done , but its still dangerous and its worrysome...

Scared Dad!!

Patriot Ron your daughter is in my prayers

with the new surgery for removal the incisions are small so that is good news for her - good luck and speedy recovery

Annihilus don't know nothing about Gall Bladder surgery....but apparently it's not too big of a deal as far as surgeries go. Best wishes to you and yours!

For the surgery side of it, I had this done a few years ago, on an emergency basis (well, I ended up spending 7 hours in the psych ward which was fun, but that's another story).

The surgery was pretty darn easy, I was actually asking if I'd be awake so I could watch, but they do put you completely under. In any case, it was fairly quick, and about the only pain was that I felt like I had done about 50000 situps. My abs were just killing me for a few days. The surgery was at about 8pm, and I was on the way home at 3:45 the next day. Just had to have my wife help me sit up and stand up for a few days.

I hope everything goes ok with the surgery Ron.

Don't fret about being a scared dad... any time something happens to one of our kids, our natural reaction as parents is to be afraid.

I've never had this surgery, but a friend recently had hers removed and she said it was no big deal. Was back on her feet and feeling frisky after just a few days. :)

I'll be praying for you and your daughter.

Scared Dad!!

My prayers to you.

Should be fine, Mrs. Sux had hers removed about 10 years ago, minimally invasive procedure.

Ron, please take solace in the fact that this is a common procedure. My sis-in-law had it recently and to look at her, you'd never know it. Her life has not been affected by this.

I hope this time passes quickly for you and you'll be chalking it up to another one of life's "bumps in the road" before you know it. Best Wishes.

My daughter had this surgery and everything went well. The only things she has to do is be careful of what she eats, like fired foods and spicy stuff.

Good luck with the surgery. I'm sure your daughter will be allright. Any "thoughts and prayers' I have left this week are going to the family of patriot Ron

Wow, my thoughts are with you and your daughter. Been through a similar thing myself with one of my yung-uns. This procedure seems pretty standard, but still its terrifying to go through.

On a side note: Mine was at Childrens in Boston for her surgery. That place is beyond phenomenal. I cant say enough good about the place or its people!:thumb:

it doesn't matter how old they are, they are still our babies...;)

and my prayers and best wishes go out to you and your daughter....:thumb:

Good luck. It is a pretty easy procedure and all will go well. We'll keep her in our prayers.

I had my gall bladder removed when I was 15. I'd been sick from it for months and months before that. The only problem with the recovery was when they took the morphine away. Sweet, sweet morphine.

Oh, and the doctor sent me back to school 6 days after the surgery. If your doctor approves it, I'd recommend a tutor or something at home for at least a couple of weeks.

Best to you both.

Update :

First Off THANK YOU ALL !! for your support in this I really really apreciate it.

I live in Jacksonville , but my Ex lives in Yulee which is a small town 40 mins north of Jax. They have no major Hospital there so my Daughters Dr sent her to Jacksonville . He uses a Major Hospital here that he has a partnership with to do operations. However he has never run up against the need to operate on a minor. The Hospital he has partnered with has a Childs wing "Wolfson's Childrens Hospital built inside the Baptist Medical Centers complex.
The problem is this.. He has no clearance to operate at Wolfsons and Baptist doesnt operate on Minors.
ITS A STUPID SITUATION...
My Daughter sat all day yesterday trying to get admitted to some hospital and by 7 pm nothing had happened and they sent her home.
Even with Catscans in hand and the Dr's report and recommendations the Dr's at Wolfsons want to do their own tests to determined if they reach the same conclussion.
So I still have a sick little girl and she has to endure the red tape of getting Drs to do their jobs.
Its looking like Friday will be the soonest that the operation gets done at this point.
I'll update again when we hear anything....

Thanks Again!!
Ron

Red tape sucks

Hopefully everyone gets their crap together and acts in the best interest of your daughter. Hang in there. We'll be thinking of you and your little girl.
