The Cover Is Better Than The Original Version

Song: Dancing In The Street
Original Artist: Martha Reeves And The Vandellas

Cover Artist: Van Halen

The Grateful Dead also covered this, and while their version is OK, I don't think it's better than the original.

Harumph.

Have you heard the live version?

Song: La Bamba
Original Artist: Ritchie Valens

Cover Artist: Los Lobos

It's a traditional song, so technically the Ritchie Valens version is also a cover. But I think many would think of that version being the original and the Los Lobos version the cover.

I like the way Richie Valens enunciates his words better than Los Lobos. The rolling Rs for example in arriba, the ia in gracia are done better.
I like Valens' version better even though it doesn't have the full production of Los Lobos' version. That's just me.

Song: Willin'

Original Artist: Little Feat

Cover Artist: Flying Burrito Brothers

The original version is a classic, and consequently this song has had many covers.

I think FBB knocks it out of the park. :coffee:

Song: Give A Little Bit

Original Artist: Supertramp

Cover Artist: The Goo Goo Dolls

I am a fan of both groups, and this is really close.
