Week 2, 2022 - Pats @ Pittsburgh

I didn't realize that scoring 17 points on the road in week 2 means that the Pats will score 17 points in every remaining game.

Here's another way to use past performance to predict the future. The Pats scored 7 in week 1 and 17 in week 2. That means they're going to increase their scoring by 10 points each game for the rest of the season, and they'll put up 167 points in their last game.

Really? Awesome!!!!!

Totally ridiculous! They're clearly increasing their point total by 143% every game.

Let's see - 10,346,618 points divided by 60 minutes (which is 3600 seconds) is 2874 points per second.

So, clearly, the Patriots will be utilizing players from the multiverse to score at that rate. This is likely something Ernie Adams cooked up in his retirement.

And naturally, Belichick will get accused of cheating and draft picks will be taken away. Sigh.

Let's not forget what this means for scoring in the playoffs! I mean, assuming our defense holds up and we get there and advance.

Because our fucking offense kept the D on the field forever and now we got a game on thursday, that after 5 quarters the previous week. Ran out of gas.
To be honest your run game ain't all that. But puff your chest out.
malakas.
That's FattyMatty's fault...just because it's convenient. :coffee:

The Patriots run game actually was all that, which is why it was effective and managed to prolong a 6 minute, game-ending drive against your supposedly physical, stout run-defense; the same run defense that boasts Myles Jack, Cam Heward, and freakishly talented Devin Bush (I watched him a lot at Michigan, great LB).

If you watch the stuff the Pats schemed up (on the last drive, and over the entirety of the game), it was brilliant. Killed you guys with an inside, gap-scheme trap play all game long, ran it two or three times in a row from the same shotgun look for 3-5 yards each time. What was so great is they ran it effectively from a spread look, which forced Pittsburgh to account for the perimeter and softened the box. Then, late, when the Steelers overcommitted to stop the inside-trap, the Pats hit them with a few toss/stretch sweeps, more of a zone scheme, with Strange pinning down and Andrews pulling.

The running game is philosophically really fun to analyze so far, and it's proven effective, too. Even against Miami they ran the ball fairly well, but inevitably had to get away from it given they were trailing by 17 at half.

Thanks Tip
I know the Pats had control of the game but those 2 fuck ups by the Steelers earlier changed the complexion of the game.

you won...by 3.
By choice. Would you have preferred the Pats pound it in at the end (win by 10) or just kneel?

Heyward has been battling a high-ankle sprain since preseason and hurt his back (or something) during the Bengals game and I thought at the time
that he'd be on the shelf next to Watt for a while. He was in major pain and had to be helped into the tent. While I thought Strange had a solid game, I'm
not sure if he caught the best version of the guy who has regularly tortured us ever since Bill refused to draft him as I suggested at the time.

If Strange handles the Packers mooses, Kenny Clark and the other huge guy, whatshisname, the same way he did Heyward then I'll lead the parade. Clark is a
fucking planet killer. He's exactly the kind of guy that Strange was supposed to struggle against, so that'll be a matchup to watch.

Also, when you see a guy that wears number 69 do you assume that it's just random or it seemed funny in High School?
Meh. The Steelers thought Hayward was the best they could put out there so…

Number 69? LOL. Odd knock. What were his choices? I guess in today’s world he could’ve shyly chosen number six or nine if available.

That's a 13-play drive, with 3 kneeldowns, 9 runs, and one pass thanks to a bullshit holding penalty when your guy was so gassed he fell down. Great conditioning coach you have there with all that high-end talent I keep hearing about. :coffee:

Like Devin Bush? I never noticed his name being called during the game, but he did have 4 tackles.
