The last two times the Pats played against a Jeff Fisher led team the Pats outscored them 104-7.

Jeff Fisher needs 3 losses to be the all time leader in losses. We'll make it 2.

Point spread: The Patriots opened as 13.5-point favorites; the total was 46 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (line updates and matchup report).
NFL pick, via Odds Shark computer: 35.4-10.4 Patriots (NFL picks on every game)

Why the Rams can cover the spread
The Rams will give rookie quarterback Jared Goff his third straight start, and they have already seen a big improvement from his first to his second NFL game despite losing 49-21 to the New Orleans Saints as 7.5-point road underdogs last Sunday.
Goff kept Los Angeles in the game in the first half at New Orleans with three touchdown passes, which is three more than he had overall in his debut at home versus the Miami Dolphins the previous week. There was little pressure on him to beat the Saints, and that should be the case again opposite future Hall of Famer Tom Brady and the Patriots this week.

Why the Patriots can cover the spread
New England has won the past four meetings with Los Angeles SU to go along with a 4-1 mark against the spread in the last five. The Rams are also just 2-5 SU and ATS in their previous seven games against teams with winning records, with the Patriots continuing to battle the Oakland Raiders for the top seed in the AFC.
New England just played a rough stretch with four of five games on the road and closes out the season with three of five at home, including two straight.

Smart pick
The Patriots do not have a lot of motivation to blow out the Rams in this spot, as they simply need a victory here so they can move on and host the Baltimore Ravens in their next game. Surprisingly, they are an unlucky 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 games played in Week 13, which should not be too shocking considering the team is more focused on stockpiling wins than going for style points at this time.
That being said, take lowly Los Angeles to cover the spread on the NFL lines behind Goff and a stronger defensive effort.

Betting trends
The Rams are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against the Patriots.
The total has gone over in six of the Patriots' last eight games at home.
The Patriots are 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 games in Week 13.

Weather shouldn't be a factor unless the Rams don't like it a bit chilly, Sunny with temps in the mid-40's.

West Coast team flying east for a 1:00 kickoff.

My guess is that Pats go up big early, the Rams pack it in, and the final score will be high-30's to low-teens.

The Rams have a rookie QB who they disliked so much they made him ride the pine until they pretty much had no choice. They score the least points in the NFL. They're coming all the way east. It's in Gillette.

If the Patriots don't sweep the leg here by 21, I will have little faith they can win the Super Bowl this year.

This feels like one of those games that I can afford to miss and get something else done on the property.

But nothing can keep me from watching the game, especially with TFB having a chance to claim the all time wins mark by a QB.

That's how most of us felt about the Philly game last year.

Is it appropriate to note that Jeff Fisher and Gregg Williams are douchecanoes here?

Payton really shoved it up their ass last Sunday, talk about running up the score.

Since BB and Sean Payton are buddies it wouldn't surprise me if BB runs up the score for good measure.

The one thing I always worry about with Fisher coached teams is dirty underhanded injury causing plays. Eff Fisher.

They'll be going for TB's leg all day.....Just wait.

Philly was not averaging only 14 ppg on offense like this rams team is nor were they flying across the country, so I guess if the Rams score 3 td's on something other than the offense like philly did, then maybe they have a shot.

Fvck him! When BB has TB take a knee to end the game when inside the 5 it is respect to the coach. 56-0 shows there is no respect. I hope BB runs the score up so high that Sean Payton calls him and says, "Dude, that was out of line."

Normally I would agree, but if they're up by 4 TDs early in the second half and start pulling starters while playing a soft zone and allow the Rams a couple garbage time TDs to make it closer I'm not going to freak. This game shouldn't be competitive in any way.

Kevin Demoff suggests Jeff Fisher will be back

Posted by Mike Florio on November 30, 2016, 10:22 AM EST

Well, Eric Dickerson apparently won’t be attending Rams games in 2017, either.

Steve Wyche of NFL Media explains that Rams COO Kevin Demoff “seemed to hint” that coach Jeff Fisher will be back after 2016, the final season of his current five-year deal.

“Everybody will want to judge Jeff through the prism of just the record, but that’s totally unfair when you look at the set of circumstances he was handed this year,” Demoff told Wyche. “It was different than any team in the NFL.

“We moved halfway across the country, then had OTAs in Oxnard. Training camp was in Irvine, now we’re in Thousand Oaks. We moved coaches and players and families. To provide leadership and consistency, he’s done a model job.”

Demoff’s remarks echo words recently shared by Fisher, a day after a 49-21 loss to the Saints.

“We’ve been through a lot,” Fisher told reporters on Monday. “It’s not an excuse, but we’ve been through more than any other team in the National Football League this offseason and the moves and the travel and all those things. We’re dealing with those as best we can.”

The Rams (or at least Demoff) apparently are willing to look past the 4-7 record, given the circumstances.

“He’s a terrific leader of men,” Demoff said. “Players, coaches and staff — he has their complete respect in the way he runs the franchise. It’s easy to talk about the record, but you have to take a snapshot of everything this year and give him the credit that he’s due.

“The past two years, he’s had to deal with the specter of relocation. This year, the actual relocation. A couple of coaches have had to deal with the specter of relocation. No coach has had to deal with an actual relocation. You have try to understand what this team has been through and the success he has had.”

Even more telling than Demoff’s words were this explanation from Wyche regarding the effort to learn more about the status of a coach whose contract expires after the current season ends.

“I pressed Demoff to nail down whether Fisher has signed an extension or if he would definitely be back,” Wyche writes. “He would not say. He would not budge.”

Indeed, Demoff consistently has told PFT in recent weeks that there is “no update” on Fisher’s contract — a contract that ESPN made a cottage industry of reporting would be extended before the 2016 regular season began. Some league insiders continue to believe that an extension already has been finalized, and that the Rams (through Demoff) and Fisher (though his agent, Marvin Demoff, as in “the father of Kevin Demoff”) have agreed to keep it quiet until the right moment.

Based on the team’s performance, the best moment probably would have been at the tail end of a three-game winning streak that came after a 28-0 Week One trouncing at San Francisco. With the season slipping away, it may be that there’s no good moment to unveil a new contract for Fisher, and that the Rams will have to find another way to define success.

Or, perhaps more accurately, another way to characterize failure.

Thanks for posting that, bid. I too get a chuckle whenever someone suggests that Fisher is a good coach.

And after reading it, I realized that the Rams COO is incorrect.

It's not true that "No coach has had to deal with an actual relocation" - in fact, the Rams current coach, Jeff Fisher, was the coach of the Houston Oilers when that franchise moved to Tennessee and became the Titans.

If there's any coach in the league that should have been able to prepare his team for the move, it's Fisher.

A clueless COO and a clueless coach. A good match for that franchise.
