If the season ended today, the Patriots would come to Kansas City.

He's a DL that is not a pass rushing specialist or an everydown player, so it's hard to quantify. But he was outstanding in Cincinatti, Buffalo, and Miami, kind of in Baltimore, but has faded a bit since then. You don't see him as much, and he's not a Ty Warren type that when you don't see him that's a good sign.

Some of that is probably tied to the development and increased playing time of Deaderick and Brace, though.
I'm not even sure I'd call it "development" as much as they've been more focused on stopping the run, and moving Grimmace out to end has limited Wright's PT to nickle/dime packages. And in those packages with limited reps, he's still making a contribution.

Pity, he declined so much he started at Cleveland. Perhaps we can take the heat off Brady and blame the loss on Mike?
I'm not blaming him. I made a point of saying that I thought he declined some, but he was really good anyway so he was still very solid.

He's just not making the impact that he was making earlier in the year when he was in the game. Maybe it's just the consecutive nasty OLs we've faced in Cleveland and Minnesota.

Also, starting on a Belichick coached team is just shy of totally irrelevant. It's just about finding advantages in individual matchups.

I know you aren't blaming him, but you did highlight Wright as "declining," which I find interesting as I'd have said he'd had a very good season to date. Warren Sapp even picked him to highlight when the various retread players/coaches NFL Total Access uses for color commentary were asked which player or players was NE's unsung heros. So far this season, Wright, along with Wilfork and G.Warren, have starts at every position on the D-line - game planning and match-ups as you say, but you can only do that if you have players who produce at a high level regardless of where they are playing. Just saying as it were ... o:)

Hillis is actually one of the main reasons why McDaniels might be fired. He is a stud that was traded for a big bust. Still blows my mind why BB didn't trade someone for him.

Yup, a truly moronic trade from pretty much every angle.

I agree with all of this. I just think he was more effective earlier in the year.

I think he was the 4th best player on the defense in week 1, and now he's 6th-ish. That's largely because of young players developing, but I also think he's tailed off some. I still love the guy, and he's still playing well.

Well, the youngsters are stepping up, but I'm hard pressed to see your perception. Happily we have 8 more games to ponder each player's contribution.

**** the Chiefs!

Exactly, I have read praise for the chiefs praise for cassel, and yet all week bashing of the pats and bashing of brady. You folks amaze me. Maybe its the morphine talking after my surgery, but maybe it might be cool to be proud of this team once in awhile and what they are doing and not bash them on every thread. I mean its one thing to praise another team, its another to be the uncle Tom of the pats.

I don't think it is the morphine talking after your surgery as much as it is an interesting Midgar moment.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you, admittedly high on narcotics, just dropped into the planet to paint everybody with the BradyHatrz brush.

Sorry, Mid, but showing a little respect for a kid as cool as Matt Cassel is and was, doesn't constitute a shot across the bow of your number one bromance.

I would suggest that when the opiates wear off you might regret this post, but experience is a great teacher.

I could give two shits about the chiefs. I could care less about cassel, I care about this team and only this team. Give respect for what? How about respect for the pats, how about respect for what they have done, who gives a crap about the chiefs? This is the most attacked 6-2 team by its fans I have ever seen. Like RAS said hell with the chiefs, I hope they lose the rest of their games just like every other team who are not the pats, the chiefs are the competition. Cassel is a chief...give him respect? For what? For handing off to the best running game in the NFL? Congrats. Its amazing how much loved this team when they were coming up, and trying to get there, then they were there, now its well they are not this, this person is not doing that....this is a young team again, they are trying to get there, so time for the support and not the expectations that it seems fans grew used to and expect. So regret? Nope not me. Maybe one day when the pats no longer have a good team and they are going through tough times and winning 4 games a year and brady is gone and belichick is gone, then people will have regret.

Dude you gotta take a chill pill. Relax. It's called discussion. Talking about another team isnt going help them beat the Pats. It's just a conversation. You know, you CAN be critical about your team , it's OK. You're not a traitor. The Pats are the best, BTW:)

(oh Sweet Lord and sonny Jesus, I'm going to regret this)

Normally, I ignore all your posts, because my general belief is that you are fundamentally braindead and probably spend the bulk of your time engaging in wild fantasy of you and your number one jerkoff fantasy Brady engaging in acts that could still get you arrested in many american states, but in this case I'm going to go a little wild and actually type the kind of things that occur to me when I read your pathetic drivel.

Contrary to what your sick, twisted Brady lovin' mind and the opiates that are still making you feel like Spiderman, Matt Cassel is nobody's enemy. He might be an AntiChrist figure to someone like you, since he had the audacity to once back up the-main-reason-for-yer-internet existence, but as much as I respect Mr. Tom Brady, I still can't forget Bill Belichick handing Cassel the game ball after he stuck with his team (the New England Patriots) instead of, you know, his family after his dad died and only six day after that event Cassel kicked the living shit out of the Raiders by throwing 4 TDs and playing nearly perfect QB in a 49-26 rout.

I remember Cassel being speechless as Belichick handed him that game ball. His eyes were filled with tears, but he blinked them back as he did all week long so he didn't let his team down. Sorry, but I think that is worth not only noting, but complimenting as many here have done. I won't forget it and neither will most people here. People who have a sense of reality. People quite unlike you.

So, if you haven't already, please go to sleep and dream the opiate-fuelded Midgar dreams of Tom putting his arms around you and nuzzling your ear and whispering his eternal thanks for you defending him, once, always and forever, from all of his detractors here, whether that criticism is real, imagined or deserved.

Sweet dreams, Middy. Sweet Dreams. And, please, by all means, GFY.

You know you owe me a coffee now, for sprayin' it thru meh nose like a super-soakah.

Large iced, pumpkin, cream only.

I dunno, Hawg. Some days middie's posts are the onlyu entertainment I get around here. What with all you other boring old gasbags actually saying things that I can't predict almost verbatim as soon as I see the author and all.

Also, I've had a "Round and Around" by Dead or Alive single on repeat play on my record player since 1986.
